Job Description
Job Summary
The Fiberglass Laminator fabricates, repairs, and maintains fiberglass products, working with resins and fiberglass materials to create and fix items like boat hulls , automotive parts, or industrial structures.
Key Responsibilities
Preparing molds by applying waxes or lacquers, then apply layers of fiberglass matting soaked in plastic resin to the molds.
Applying and layering fiberglass matting with resin to achieve the desired thickness, then press and smooth out wrinkles and air bubbles with rollers or brushes.
Smoothing and curing the material
Trimming cured materials to specifications using tools like diamond-impregnated cutoff wheels and hand shears.
Inspect finished products for thickness, density, and overall quality
Repair damaged or defective fiberglass parts by checking dimensions and ensuring a proper fit after repair.
Qualifications
Proven experience with fiberglass lamination and composite manufacturing or repair.
boat manufacturing or a related industry.
Familiarity with boat assembly and working on boat molds
Knowledge of tools and equipment used in fiberglass fabrication.
Familiarity with gelcoat application
Strong understanding of quality control and safety standards.
Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
