Job Description

Job Summary:

The Facilities Engineer is responsible for the effective operation, maintenance, and improvement of the building's systems, equipment, and infrastructure. This role ensures that all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, as well as civil and safety aspects, are operating efficiently and in compliance with applicable regulations. The Facilities Engineer will also support preventive and corrective maintenance programs, contractor supervision, and facility improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

Operations & Maintenance:

Oversee and ensure proper operation of MEP systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire safety, and related building services. Perform or coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance activities according to schedules. Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and implement solutions promptly to minimize downtime. Monitor facility performance, energy usage, and system efficiency, recommending improvements where necessary.

Health, Safety & Compliance:

Ensure compliance with local authority regulations, codes, and safety standards. Conduct routine inspections of facilities to identify risks, hazards, and maintenance needs. Maintain and update all relevant safety and compliance documentation.

Project & Contractor Management:

Coordinate and supervise external contractors for maintenance, repair, and upgrade works. Review and approve technical specifications, scope of work, and project timelines. Ensure work quality meets contractual and technical requirements.

Administrative & Reporting:

Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs. Prepare periodic reports on facility performance, maintenance costs, and project progress. Assist in budget preparation and cost control for facility operations.

Qualifications & Skills:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering, or related field. Minimum 3-5 years of experience in facilities or building maintenance engineering. Strong knowledge of MEP systems, building management systems (BMS), and safety regulations. Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Proficiency in MS Office and maintenance management software. Strong communication and contractor management skills.

Working Conditions:

Office and site-based role, with regular inspections and fieldwork. May require work outside standard hours for urgent maintenance issues.
