oLead and supervise all fabrication, welding, assembly, painting, inspection, and testing activities to meet quality and contractual requirements.
oPlan and schedule fabrication activities to meet project deadlines, ensuring optimal use of manpower, machines, and materials.
oMonitor daily shop floor operations, identify bottlenecks, and implement corrective actions to maintain workflow efficiency.
oEnsure all activities are aligned with QHSE procedures and comply with ASME, API, ISO, and other client specifications.
Coordination & Communication
oReview project and tender documents to understand full scope and deliverables.
oCoordinate closely with Engineering, QA/QC, Procurement, and Stores to ensure timely availability of approved drawings, materials, consumables, and equipment.
oLiaise with clients and project managers for site queries, inspections, and approvals as needed.
Team Management & Supervision
oManage and oversee fabrication shop personnel, including Charge Hands, Welders, Fitters, Blasters, Painters, and Helpers.
oSupport recruitment and training efforts for shop-floor staff to maintain skill levels and shop performance.
oAssign and monitor manpower distribution based on project priorities and production targets.
Technical Understanding and Clarification
oReview and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and client requirements to ensure complete understanding of project scope.
oIdentify discrepancies or ambiguities in design documents and raise technical queries (TQs) for timely resolution.
oCoordinate with Engineering, QA/QC, and Project teams to clarify fabrication-related technical issues before production begins.
oEnsure that all clarification responses are implemented in shop drawings and production plans accurately.
oSupport pre-fabrication meetings and technical discussions with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to align expectations.
oMaintain a record of all technical clarifications, revisions, and approvals to ensure traceability and compliance.
oVerify that all technical aspects of the job--including material selection, welding requirements, painting specifications, and dimensional tolerances--are clearly understood and executed as per contract requirements.
Production Reporting & Controls
oMaintain accurate records for production progress, manpower utilization, welder performance, material consumption, and equipment downtime.
oSupport estimation and planning departments with accurate inputs related to fabrication, man-hours, and productivity.
Welding & Painting Oversight
oEnsure proper implementation of WPS/PQRs and adherence to welding procedures (SMAW, GTAW, FCAW, SAW).
oSchedule and monitor all internal and external painting activities (including API and fabrication scopes).
Continuous Improvement & Closeout
oParticipate in project close-out reviews, capture lessons learned, and recommend improvements for future projects.
oPromote a safe, organized, and disciplined work environment on the shop floor.
Specialized Knowledge
Strong knowledge of fabrication codes and standards: ASME/ANSI, API, ASTM, BS, AWWA, NACE, SHELL, TEMA, NEMA.
Hands-on experience in pressure vessels, tanks, skids, manifolds, piping systems, structural steel, flare stacks.
Familiar with drafting software (AutoCAD) and production planning tools (MS Project).
Understanding of welding symbols, fabrication tolerances, and NDT requirements.
Cost Control, Planning
ASNT/ACCP Level II in RT, MT, DPT (preferred).

Experience
Minimum 10 years of experience in fabrication and production, preferably in oil & gas or EPC sectors.
At least 5 years in a supervisory/engineering role in the Middle East.
