Job Description

Wood is looking for suitable candidates on an Expression of Interest (EOI) basis for a potential project based in our Abu Dhabi office. This role will sit in our Vibration, Dynamics and Noise (VDN) group.

The primary role is to provide machinery consultancy services to oil and gas operators in both the Middle East and across the globe. The primary responsibilities are as follows:

+ Office based elements:

+ Completing API 618 based pulsation and mechanical analysis of reciprocating compressors

+ Completing API 674 based pulsation and mechanical analysis of pumps

+ Torsional analysis of machinery

+ Completing reportage required for project with minimum oversight from senior colleagues

+ Managing technical and commercial aspects of small projects from initial proposal, through technical delivery, presentation to client and final invoicing

+ Assist the static equipment team where required and develop competence in static equipment

Field based elements:

+ + Dynamic measurements in support of troubleshooting of machinery

+ Machinery surveys to identify concerns and devise practical solutions

+ Liaising with client personnel on site and at all other stages of projects

Technical/Business Skills:

+ Essential

+ Knowledge of associated reciprocating machinery standards (e.g. API 618 and API 674)

+ Understanding of the application of various simulation packages used by Wood VDN (FEA, acoustic, pulsation, etc) Specific experience in the use of such packages (e.g. ANSYS, Caesar, PULS/BOSFluids, MAPAK)

+ Desirable:

+ Working knowledge of performing vibration, dynamic stress, dynamic pressure and noise measurements

+ Knowledge and application of piping and static equipment industry standards (i.e. ASME B31.1, B31.3)

+ Experience in basic high level coding languages for engineering analysis (e.g. MATLAB, C+, FAMOS)

Interpersonal Skills:

+ Comfortable to complete site based work (12 hr shifts, upto 21 days continuous) on- and offshore globally

+ Under the direction of the Team Lead demonstrate ability to perform project resource planning and tracking of staff movements and usage on a daily basis in response to changing priorities of clients

+ Comfortable presenting project results and group competencies to existing and potential clients

+ Continually seek to develop Wood technical services, procedures, tools and technical resources

+ Develop leadership skills within small teams in the office and on site as required. These skills include (but are not limited to) motivation, enthusiasm, effective time management, good initiative and planning ability, good communications, excellent technical delivery and an enthusiastic outlook

+ Understand roles of senior colleagues to allow cover to be provided on short term basis as required (to the limits of individual competency and typically in conjunction with other Principal Engineers and Consultants)

Business and Industry Experience:

+ Experience (>3 years) working in the petrochemical industry. Demonstrable experience of machinery and pulsation projects

Education:

+ Suitable mechanical engineering (or equivalent) degree, education and demonstratable CPD
