The Equipment Technician is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and calibrating tools and equipment used in automotive repair, diagnostics, and manufacturing processes. The technician ensures that all equipment is functioning optimally and complies with safety and quality standards, thereby supporting uninterrupted workshop operations and improving overall efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Equipment Maintenance:
Perform routine maintenance, servicing, and calibration of automotive workshop equipment (e.g., lifts, wheel balancers, alignment machines, diagnostic tools, air compressors).
Conduct preventive maintenance based on scheduled plans.
Identify and replace worn-out parts to minimize downtime.
Repair & Troubleshooting:
Diagnose and repair faults in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems of workshop equipment.
Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and service requests.
Liaise with external service providers for major repairs when needed.
Installation & Setup:
Assist in installing new equipment, ensuring it is correctly configured and safe to operate.
Support workshop upgrades and relocations as required.
Inventory & Documentation:
Maintain inventory of spare parts, tools, and consumables.
Document all maintenance and repair activities in maintenance logs or systems.
Generate reports on equipment status, usage, and service history.
Safety & Compliance:
Ensure all equipment adheres to workplace safety and environmental regulations.
Conduct safety checks and risk assessments.
Train users on correct and safe use of workshop tools and machinery.
Requirements:
Education:
Diploma or Technical Certification in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering, Automotive Technology, or related field.
Experience:
Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a similar role within the automotive or manufacturing sector.
Skills:
Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
Familiarity with workshop equipment brands and software tools.
Knowledge of health and safety standards in workshop settings.
Ability to read technical manuals and schematics.
Good communication and teamwork abilities.
Preferred Qualities:
Experience with computerized maintenance systems (CMMS).
Hands-on knowledge of vehicle diagnostic tools and calibration equipment.
UAE driving license (if relevant to role).
Working Conditions:
Workshop or service center environment.
May involve lifting, standing for long periods, and working in tight spaces.
Occasional overtime or shift-based work may be required.
