The EPC Plant Operator is responsible for operating and monitoring plant equipment and systems at an EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) project site. The operator ensures smooth plant operations, adheres to safety protocols, and supports commissioning and start-up activities for industrial plants such as oil & gas, power generation, petrochemicals, or water treatment facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate, monitor, and control plant systems and equipment in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Start up and shut down systems in a safe and efficient manner during pre-commissioning, commissioning, and operation phases.
Record operating data such as process conditions, test results, and instrument readings.
Assist in troubleshooting and diagnosing operational problems, recommending corrective actions.
Coordinate with engineers, supervisors, and other technical teams to ensure compliance with operational targets and safety regulations.
Monitor equipment and report malfunctions or abnormal conditions to the control room or maintenance personnel.
Maintain logs and documentation for shift handovers and regulatory compliance.
Conduct field inspections and routine maintenance checks as required.
Follow all environmental, health, and safety (EHS) policies and site-specific regulations.
Participate in toolbox talks, safety drills, and regular training programs.
Process Safety / Asset Integrity / Occupational HSE :
Responsible for the compliance to all procedures as defined in the OPF PSAIM standard, and any Facility Specific
Procedure related to PSAIM. Drive/Improve PSAIM self-assessment 2/y
Responsible for Permit To Work Procedures adherence and for maintaining the site clean/organized at all times
Responsible for the SQ and HSE Incident Reporting, Remedial Work Plan closure and Root Cause Investigation
Responsible for the execution of ERP Drills and the continuous ERT/ERP improvements
Adherence to Safe Works practices (incudingProcess Safety Fundamentals and Life Saving Rules)
Production Activities :
Ensure all necessary parameters (flow, temp, pressure, specific gravities, chemicals quality, contaminations, etc)
are constantly monitored not to allow any required oil & gas specifications to go off. Take safe and fast actions to
return on-specifications when required
Responsible for the compliance to the Facility specific procedures related to the Production and other Contractual
Reporting and Communications with the Client.
Prepare daily/night operations reports
Prepare Operations logs for the operations
Manage Safety Device/Instrument System Bypass or Isolation, and the forcing of Safety Instrumented System SIS /
and Fire and Gas Systems (FGS) inputs and outputs as per PF-W-01-09-003 Preparation / Isolation guidelines
Responsible for Plant shutdown or activating ERP in case of emergency.
Ensure facility is operating within Integrity Operating Windows
Ensure Security monitoring (CCTV'sin Control Room)
Responsible for Inventory management compliance
Responsible for up-keep and accuracy of SOP's information (procedures/checklist/work instructions)
Responsible for the compliance to MOC procedures (OPF and Facility Specific)
Experience :
Minimum 7 years production/maintenance
experience and 3 years in Plant Operations
role.
Knowledge to monitor all the operations of the
plants to ensure that everything is working as
designed/Planned.
Skill for operating and directing the operation of
equipment for stopping, starting and/or
regulating oil and gas, steam generators, hot oil
system, vessels, tanks etc(As per facility).
Eligible to manage and skill to safe control and
operation of units and associated plant
equipment for maximum efficiency and output.
He must have the functional and technical
knowledge and skills to manage activities in the
Production Facility with high level of
competency.
Must have experience communicating
effectively with his managers, peers and clients
both in writing and verbally.
