Role Overview
The Endocrinologist will join a small but dedicated multi?disciplinary team to diagnose, treat and manage endocrine/metabolic disorders including diabetes, thyroid disease, adrenal/pituitary dysfunction and other related conditions. The successful candidate will also support capacity building for local clinicians and contribute to the development of endocrine services on the island.
Key Responsibilities
Provide outpatient and inpatient endocrine consultations and care.
Diagnose and manage endocrine disorders: diabetes mellitus, thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal, pituitary, metabolic bone disease.
Interpret laboratory and imaging studies relevant to endocrine pathology.
Develop and implement individualised treatment plans and monitor progress.
Collaborate with general physicians, primary care, nursing staff, allied health and hospital specialists.
Participate in education/training of local staff and contribute to protocol development.
Maintain accurate medical records and adhere to clinical governance and quality standards.
Possibly participate in community outreach / screening programmes for metabolic disease (if scope allows).
Requirements & Qualifications
Medical degree (MD/MBBS or equivalent) and specialist qualification in Endocrinology (or equivalent training).
Current license/registration to practise medicine in home country (and able to obtain any local Nauru registration/clearance).
Minimum 3?5 years' post?specialty clinical experience in endocrinology (more preferred).
Strong clinical decision?making and communication skills, ability to work in resource?limited setting.
Commitment to mentoring/training local staff and building service capability.
Willingness to relocate to Republic of Nauru and work in a remote island environment.
