To provide independent, authoritative advice, support & assistance to the Line organization on the function of Environment, Health, and Safety, to ensure the company meets its statutory obligations by implementing best practices to achieve high levels of Environment, Health and Safety management on site. The role shall also be to support the local site management team on all aspects of EHS and work closely with the Site Manager to champion best practices on-site through setting and supporting high-performance standards to ensure Harsco is best in class with EHS compliance and culture. KEY RESULT AREAS
  • Work with operational managers and others to communicate and ensure compliance with all EHS policies, standards, and requirements to all within the region.
  • Advise of any legislation changes, global and Harsco requirements and work with local management on implementation and compliance.
  • Ensure that all incidents are reported and effectively investigated to ensure corrective and preventative actions are suitable and sufficient as well as implemented.
  • Timely reporting of accurate EHS data monthly by generating update reports.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
  • Provide the leadership with EHS support within the organization;
  • Identify strategies to improve safety behavior across the workforce;
  • Develop an EHS plan with value-added activities and change initiatives to improve safety performance and behavior;
  • Design safety campaigns to drive the safety agenda;
  • Take an active role in coordinating the development and implementation of safety policies and programs, safe work practices, and safety training programs;
  • Review EHS competency levels of operational staff and workforce including sub-contractors and address issues;
  • Maintain compliance with applicable regulations and standards of safety management practices as they relate to the business;
  • Present regular performance reports, updates, and statistics to site/country/regional Management Team;
  • Prepare and maintain accurate and timely recordkeeping and reports to monitor compliance for Company and regulatory agencies;
  • Liaise with local authorities, customer EHS, and other key stakeholders on compliance issues;
  • Ensure the company\xe2\x80\x99s Harsco Way Site Assessment criteria are applied to the operations. Maintain action items associated with the assessment and report out to site, country, and regional management team;
  • Monitor the overall Environmental, Health, and Safety performance of the site and provide feedback to the management team;
  • Periodically audit site\xe2\x80\x99s operations to ensure that all work is planned and performed in compliance with company, customer, and legislative safety requirements;
  • Identify risks in the workplace and initiatives to eliminate them to ensure a safe work environment;
  • Perform job safety analysis and risk Assessments and report extraordinary risks to employee safety and health to the management team;
  • Maintain proficiency and competency levels to current standards for self and site team;
  • Assist with the preparation and review of safe work plans, initiate the correction of hazardous working conditions, and aid in selecting personal protective equipment;
  • Coordinate accident investigations, review all first reports of injury and near miss/accident investigations, and participate in the development of Corrective/Preventative Action Plans;
  • Conduct and document periodic safety training sessions to ensure that employees are properly oriented and receive the level of training necessary to safely perform their jobs. Maintain safety and training records and recommend additional training, as needed;
  • Advise and guide managers within the site with respect to Occupational Health, Safety & Environmental Policies and Procedures;
  • Monitor and provide statistical reports in relation to Health, Safety, and Environmental issues as required;
  • Represent the company in attending customer meetings as required, ensuring a professional image is portrayed;
  • Communicate regularly with the customers\xe2\x80\x99 points of contact to keep them informed of progress on projects or key action items;
  • Ensure that there is an effective communication process with all senior management and site team;
  • Run the safety committee meetings, ensuring suitable representation from each department as per the company\xe2\x80\x99s standards;
  • Ensure safety matters raised are addressed promptly;
  • Ensure investigations into safety issues or non compliance are completed in a timely manner;
  • Conduct safety tours and planned inspections as required;

Qualifications
Qualifications & Managerial Experience
  • EHS Leadership experience.
  • NEBOSH IGC qualified (Safety Qualification).
  • IEMA or equivalent qualified (Environmental Qualification)
  • Operational Experience
Technical Skills
  • IT skills including PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Detailed understanding of auditing on health and safety systems.
  • Accident Investigation and Root Cause Analysis tools.
  • High-Risk Industry experience is preferable.
