Job Purpose

\xe2\x80\x8bWork collaboratively with faculty and staff of the Institute of Leadership in Higher Education to promote innovative pedagogies and student learning through the use of technology; support faculty with the learning management system, communication technologies and the development of audio-visual learning resources; provide training and tutorials both in the traditional face-to-face and web-based contexts; carry out other tasks and duties as assigned.\xe2\x80\x8b

Main accountabilities & expectations

\xe2\x80\x8b
  • Collaborate with faculty to develop timely and effective innovative courses and digital learning materials, develop technologies that support other learning initiatives such as contextual learning, academic assessment, or student services.
  • Ability to use multi-media technology, software and web-based resources to assist in building and designing course content for effective teaching and learning.
  • Ability to operate audio/video production equipment (DSLR video camera, tripod, lighting, microphones, green screen, etc.).
  • Skills in graphic/video editing software such as Adobe Creative Suite (particularly Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Audition, Premier Pro and After Effects) or Final Cut Pro.
  • Able to prepare and produce digital images, video, audio and animation assets in compliance with the organizational standards and guidelines.
  • Ability in compiling the assets to create interactive learning content using rapid authoring tools preferably Articulate Storyline.
  • Coordinate training efforts for faculty, staff, and students in the use of technology and active learning techniques, including preparing materials, offering training sessions and developing online tutorials.
  • Ability to visualize and conceptualize concepts with creative and artistic flair
  • Manage the development process of assigned course/ projects and provide periodic reports on course development and other projects.
  • Provide advice and counsel to the Director of Institute of Leadership in Higher Education on the strategic, tactical and operational issues associated with the use of technology for teaching and learning purposes.
  • Assist in assessing the effectiveness of course/instructional materials that are produced.
  • Provide methods for learning needs analysis to ensure the appropriateness of digital instructional materials.\xe2\x80\x8b

Required Skills
  • \xe2\x80\x8bEffective use of multi-media technology, software and web-based resources to assist in building and designing course content for effective teaching and learning.
  • Knowledge of adult learning theory, including instructional design, learning styles, distance learning theories and practices, etc.
  • Stay up to date of new and emerging technologies and best practices in the development and implementation of online and face to face learning.
  • Assist in producing instructional materials in a variety of formats
  • Ability to work collaboratively and provide information to individuals and groups.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail, problem-solving capabilities, and a respectful communication style.
  • Familiarity with modern teaching and learning technologies.
  • Experience working with faculty and students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and strategic planning skills.
  • Maintaining a consistently high level of professionalism and reliability while working on multiple projects and deadlines\xe2\x80\x8b
Desirable Requirements

\xe2\x80\x8bMSc. in in a field such as Education Instructional Design and Technology or related field or an equivalent combination of education, training with at least five (5) years professional working experience in a higher education setting. The Effective use of multi-media technology, software and web-based resources to assist in building and designing course content for effective teaching and learning.\xe2\x80\x8b
