Job Purpose
To be responsible for creating and maintaining high-quality content and generating ideas for improving educational materials in the University of Sharjah, as well as working closely with faculty members to promote innovative pedagogies and student learning through the use of technology.

Main accountabilities & expectations
  • Collaborate with faculty members and other institute's staff to develop effective innovative courses and digital learning materials, to support learning initiatives such as contextual learning, academic assessment, and student services.
  • Explore the use of new Educational technologies and apply these technologies where applicable to design course content for effective teaching and learning.
  • Develop, generate and produce high-quality instructional education material e.g. digital images, video, audio, animation, recorded presentations, and e-learning formats using design best practices in compliance with the organizational standards and guidelines.
  • Support faculty members with communication technologies, and the development of audio-visual learning resources, by providing training and tutorials both in the traditional face-to-face and web-based contexts.
  • Deliver training for faculty, staff, and students in the use of technology and active learning techniques, including preparing materials, offering training sessions, and developing online tutorials.
  • Provide advice to the Director of Institute of Leadership in Higher Education on the strategic, tactical and operational issues associated with the use of technology for teaching and learning purposes.
  • Keep up-to-date with educational content developments and advancement resources in the market in order to improve the teaching and learning process at the University.
  • Prepare various reports, analysis and statistics related to the Instructional Design Section as and when necessary.
  • Review and understand all relevant policies and procedures in order to be able to carry out daily work tasks as expected, and answer all stakeholder inquiries, clarifications, or any assistance related to the "Instructional Design Section" accurately and efficiently.
  • Recommend and implement suitable methods to best help assess the effectiveness of the produced course/instructional materials. As well as compile and report the assessment results to the line manager in order to take the best corrective action.
  • Complete any other job-related tasks as assigned by line manager within the expected time limit.


Job Specific Accountabilities

Required Skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to prepare professional documents, in both Arabic and English.
  • Knowledge of multi-media technology, software, and web-based resources.
  • Knowledge of adult learning theory, instructional design, learning styles, distance learning theories, and practices.
  • Familiarity with graphic/video editing software such as Adobe Creative Suite (particularly Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Audition, Premier Pro, and After Effects) or Final Cut Pro.
  • Ability to operate audio/video production equipment (DSLR video camera, tripod, lighting, microphones, green screen, etc.).
  • Keep up with new and emerging technologies and best practices in the development and implementation of online and face-to-face learning.
  • Ability to produce instructional materials in a variety of formats.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and provide information/reports to individuals and groups.
  • Attention to detail, problem-solving capabilities, and respectful communication style.
  • Familiarity with modern teaching and learning technologies.
  • Experience working with faculty and students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and strategic planning skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks and produce reports under strict guidelines.

Preferred Qualification & Experience
  • Minimum bachelor's degree in Education, Instructional Design or Educational Technology
  • A Master's degree in a related field is a plus.
  • 6-8 years of UAE experience in a similar role preferably in higher education institutions.
  • Priority is to UAE Nationals.
