Ductman (150 Nos)
Job Title: Ductman / HVAC Ductwork Installer / Sheet Metal Worker
Reports To: HVAC Foreman / Sheet Metal Supervisor
Summary:
The Ductman specializes in the fabrication, assembly, installation, and sealing of sheet metal ducts and fittings that form the air distribution system for HVAC systems. Their work is critical for ensuring proper airflow, ventilation, and comfort.
Key Responsibilities:

• Fabrication: Read shop drawings and use specialized machinery (brakes, shears, rollers, plasma cutters) to fabricate sheet metal ducts, fittings, elbows, transitions, and dampers from galvanized steel, aluminum, or other materials.
• Installation: Assemble and install ductwork systems, including both main trunks and branch runs. Hang and support ducts using appropriate hangers, straps, and supports according to design specifications.
• Sealing & Insulation: Seal joints and seams of ducts using mastics, tapes, or gaskets to prevent air leakage. Install external thermal insulation and vapor barriers on ducts as required.
• Connection: Connect ductwork to air handling units (AHUs), fan coil units (FCUs), variable air volume (VAV) boxes, diffusers, grilles, and registers.
• Testing: Assist in performing air balance and pressure testing of the duct system.
• Maintenance: Replace or repair damaged ductwork sections in existing buildings.
• Safety: Adhere to shop and job site safety rules, especially when handling sharp metal, operating machinery, and working on ladders or lifts.
• Coordination: Work closely with other trades, particularly Electricians (to power AHUs) and Chilled Water Technicians (to connect FCUs), to ensure a seamless installation.

Qualifications & Skills:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Formal sheet metal apprenticeship training or significant on-the-job experience.
• Proficiency in reading mechanical and architectural drawings.
• Skill in operating sheet metal fabrication tools and equipment.
• Knowledge of SMACNA (Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors' National Association) standards is highly desirable.
• Physical stamina and ability to work in awkward positions and lift heavy materials.
