VERVIEW/BASIC FUNCTION:
The role of Director of Communications is to oversee the management of all areas of marketing communication (advertising, public relations, direct marketing, and social media,) to ensure that Rosewood Doha is correctly positioned as an ultra-luxury hotel product, in line with the strategic direction of Rosewood Hotel Group.
Director of Communications maximizes and executes all relevant marketing opportunities in a timely and professional manner to secure high quality targeted exposure of the hotel and all of its revenue streams, as well as maintains an excellent hotel and professional reputation in the eyes of the media, the public, the owners, the guests and the associates.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works independently on assigned tasks and supports the Sales and Marketing Department in achieving the departmental goals.

  • Creates positive profile awareness through the media representatives on all aspects of Rosewood Doha revenue streams to ensure that we meet our Marketing Communication and PR objectives as laid out in the annual Sales and Marketing plan.

  • In conjunction with the Director of Sales and Marketing develops a marketing plan for Rosewood Doha that underpins the annual budget goals of the hotel.

  • Identifies, recommends and acts upon any potential marketing opportunities that create a positive market profile or potential revenue stream for Rosewood Doha.

  • Develops a strategic marketing communication plan using the Rosewood Hotel Group marketing guidelines to ensure that the hotel is professionally positioned in all of the key market segments across the rooms, conference, food and beverage, and Asaya Spa.

  • Ensures that all marketing resources are deployed to create an adequate return on investment and that all projects support each other as part of an integrated plan.

  • Optimizes the relationship with key marketing partners (advertising agency, PR agency, printing company, and social media partners) to ensure that they are provided with a strong brief from the client and that our investment generates appropriate levels of return which is measured carefully.

  • Presents a transparent view of the communication approach to ensure that key division heads and managers are fully aware and conversant with the planning direction and priorities of the live marketing communication activities.

  • Liaises with Rosewood P.R. and Rosewood P.R. agencies and carries out Public Relations activities as requested by Rosewood Hotel Group.

  • Embraces\xe2\x80\x99 innovation and recognize that our associates will be a major source of new ideas that we will encourage and nurture.

  • Engages in administrational tasks to support the direction of the Sales and Marketing department.

  • Polices internal content of the hotel website and to work closely with Director of Sales and Marketing, Director of Revenue and Rosewood Corporate team to ensure that the hotel website is fully optimized and the content is fresh with regular update that reflect the activities planned and taking place at Rosewood Doha.

  • In conjunction with Food & Beverage Department to develops an annual Food & Beverage action plan with supporting communication, collateral and PR actions to gain the maximum exposure for these initiatives.

  • Coordinates with all marketing partners to ensure timely and accurate delivery of all marketing initiatives and collateral as instructed by the Director of Sales and Marketing.

  • Oversees the planning and execution of all Rosewood photo-shoots to ensure that Rosewood Doha has a constantly evolving and updated range of press, brochure friendly photography, in keeping with the photography guidelines defined by Rosewood Hotel Group.

  • Coordinates and follows up with all operating departments on marketing initiatives to ensure their timely delivery as designated by the Director of Sales and Marketing.

  • Establishes and maintains excellent relations with the relevant media in Doha, Qatar, (and beyond) and foster close relationships to help secure editorial coverage for Rosewood Doha.

  • Creates positive press releases briefs and circulates them to relevant PR agencies after approval of the brief from Director of Sales and Marketing.

  • Administrates the Sales and Marketing action plan and finalizes the requested monthly updates with measurable outcomes.

  • Maintains a current and accurate electronic photo library within the marketing department including updates for the hotel website.

  • Attends relevant functions, events or receptions with a view to positively promoting our properties\xe2\x80\x99 events or products.

  • Completes hotel sites tours in a professional and courteous manner at all times as instructed by Director of Sales and Marketing.

  • Prepares monthly and ad-hoc reports on the effectiveness of all marketing communication disciplines.

  • Ensure that all projects, expenses etc are in accordance with the budget, which shall be submitted to and approved by the Director of Marketing in advance.

  • Copy writes and proof reads all English/Arabic copy-(via translation) for all marketing materials and submits for final approval to the Director of Sales and Marketing.

  • Continually develops and maintains a stock of accurate, informative and creative ad-hoc press kits.

  • Assists in procurement of sponsors for events and activities.

  • Attends daily review along with Sales and Marketing team.

  • Carries out other additional duties from time to time as delegated by Rosewood Doha management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience: Minimum 3 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in a similar position for a luxury or an ultra-luxury property.

Education: Graduate in Communication and Public Relation

General Skills: Must be able to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy;

prioritize, organize and follow-up; be a clear thinker, remaining calm and resolving problems using good judgment; follow directions thoroughly; understand a guest\xe2\x80\x99s service needs; work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team; work with minimal supervision; maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent hotel data.

Technical Skills:Must be able to manage translation of English into Arabic and police the use of Arabic in all Rosewood Doha communication. Requires to be conversant with key software applications including Microsoft Office particularly power point.

Language: Required to speak, read and write English, with fluency in other languages preferred.

Grooming:Should be the benchmark for Rosewood professional grooming in the hotel, in keeping with standards laid down in the Grooming policy.
