The Development Manager, Dubai, plays an integral role in the implementation of Room to Read's activities in the Middle East. The Manager is focused on business development, cultivating relationships, and renewing and providing strong customer service to our donors.

The Business Development Manager is a part of the Global Development team and reports to the Development Director, EMEA. Work week will be 40 hours. The Middle East is one of Room to Read's newest and most important markets, and we are looking for a dynamic, personable and results-oriented person to help us build on this success.

The successful candidate must be a self-motivated team player committed to our cause and have a track record of delivering results.

Duties and Responsibilities: The Manager will serve as Room to Read's key point person for the International Humanitarian City (IHC) Free zone, Dubai. IHC will be responsible for the day-to-day management of Room to Read's IHC operations.

Day-to-day responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

Managing the ongoing operations of the branch, including signing official documents

Organizing and overseeing the ME events strategy

Meeting with donors and prospective donors

Supporting project managers overseeing Room to Read's programs in the MENA region

Supporting with leads and opportunities in other markets through collaboration with other Directors and Managers and engaging with other authorities as required and employing staff.

The Development Manager will oversee a portfolio of individual, corporate and foundation donors with a minimum goal for the region of US$1.5MM.

Alongside the Development Director, EMEA, the Development Manager will be the point person for Room to Read's Middle East Board, convening Board meetings, working with the Board to set goals, and assisting the Board in executing regional priorities.

The Manager shall be named on the IHC branch trade license.

The Manager will be the point person for Room to Read's Banking Partnerships in the region and will support the finance and legal team in opening bank accounts and other formalities.

The Manager will maintain effective and productive relationships both internally and externally.

Qualifications:

Required:

. Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience . At least 7-8 years of relevant work experience in a similar role . Proven experience of achieving fundraising results, including successful relationship management, and income generation . Proven experience in successfully cultivating foundation, individual and corporate donors and in securing five and six-figure donations. . Familiar with the legal framework and regulations in the UAE region . Proven ability to work successfully in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple projects and priorities . Excellent written and spoken communications skills in Arabic & English . Willingness and ability to work autonomously and collaboratively with a team . Prior success working closely and building relationships with diverse groups of people . Strong work ethic, results and detail-oriented . Ability to be flexible and proactively problem solve . Effectiveness in working or volunteering in a non-profit organization that is focused on maintaining high-quality work and low overhead . Ability and desire to travel internationally, as needed . Adept at using MS Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint, database systems and communicating over email . Legally eligible to work in Dubai; no sponsorship provided

Preferred: . Proven experience in relationship management with the Government, individuals and/or corporations . Knowledge of the Middle East charitable environment . Familiarity with Board and executive-level operations

. During the recruitment process, should you demonstrate sufficient relevant experience, SRI Executive will require your cooperation in completing a Competency Profile. You will also be required to participate in several telephone or Microsoft Teams screening discussions with the SRI Executive team to ensure there is a clear understanding of the Terms of Reference and to ascertain if there is the appropriate "fit" (technical and behavioral) for you and Room to Read.

. Based on the screening discussions, SRI Executive will provide a shortlist of recommended candidates to Room to Read for further review. Suitable candidates to take forward for first round interviews will then be selected by the hiring committee. SRI Executive will contact suitable candidates and arrange interviews.

. First-round interviews will be conducted by videoconference. Based on the outcome of the first-round interview, successful candidates will be invited to participate in a second-round video conference. Face-to-face interviews are being limited at this stage due to the pandemic situation of COVID-19 to ensure the safety of candidates. However, we do aim to hold selected interviews during this process in person in Dubai and will work with candidates to organize these and to ensure safety protocols.

. Please be aware that this appointment will require that you provide us with the contact information of three people who are willing to act as a referee, including former direct reports. We will not contact these individuals without your expressed permission.

. After you meet with Room to Read, we will advise you of their decision and provide feedback. At the selection stage, should you be the preferred final candidate, our client will likely extend to you a letter of intention to offer and that the offer will be subject to a reference from your current employer.
