Job Description

The PH MEP Market Development Director is responsible for driving profitable store unit growth across a portfolio of Franchise Markets.
The Market Development Director enables markets to realize their full potential through:
  • Securing contracted growth by structuring mutually beneficial deals with Franchise partners
  • Enhancing asset ROIs by establishing geographic, asset, and site selection strategies
  • Conceptualizing new asset models that cater to emerging market trends and consumer needs
  • Improving cash flows via capex reduction and P&L optimization initiatives

In addition, the Market Development Director will interact with key senior Franchise partners to drive high level strategic and tactical alignment. The Market Development Director will also build Franchisee capability across market planning, site selection, and other Development tools and processes.
JOB SIZE
PH MEP manages a portfolio of 500+ stores across 9 markets and builds 80+ stores per year. The Market Development Director will be directly responsible for a number of these while delegating the balance to a direct report. The market assignment may change from time to time.
This position will be based in Dubai and will require approximately 50% travel.
JOB FUNCTIONS
Major job functions include: Deal Structuring and Delivering Growth KPIs \xc2\xa7 Deliver key Development KPIs in MEP markets: New Store Openings, Remodels \xc2\xa7 Secure Contracted Growth by structuring mutually beneficial Development Agreements with Franchise partners \xc2\xa7 Deliver growth through more non-traditional channels such as M&A, cloud kitchens, etc with the ultimate target of driving inorganic growth on an annual basis
Growth Strategy and Market Analysis
\xc2\xa7 Lead Market Planning and quantify market growth potential by building capability, sharing best-practice, and actively managing our roster of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Advanced Analytics partners \xc2\xa7 Determine optimal pace of growth by assessing Franchise business models, network health and competitive landscape \xc2\xa7 Enhance asset ROIs by determining optimal geographic, asset, and site selection strategies \xc2\xa7 Conceptualize new asset models based on emerging market trends and consumer needs \xc2\xa7 Enhance Franchisee growth potential by improving cash flows through capex reduction and P&L optimization initiatives
Pipeline Management and Process Discipline
\xc2\xa7 Build and cultivate relationships with Franchisee Development organizations (Chief Development Officer, Real Estate & Market Planning teams) and act as liaison between Franchisees and PH MEP \xc2\xa7 Ensure all asset actions (new site / relocation / closure approvals) conform to PH guidelines \xc2\xa7 Review asset pipelines to drive New Store Openings and Remodel targets \xc2\xa7 Manage Franchisee execution in line with PH MEP\xe2\x80\x99s Development Processes and standards on Market Planning, Site Selection, Redevelopment, etc.
Franchise Capability Building \xc2\xa7 Optimize Franchisee\xe2\x80\x99s Development Organization headcount and structure via market benchmarking \xc2\xa7 Build Franchisee capability through formal conferences / workshops / colleges and periodic market visits \xc2\xa7 Identify and deploy regional and global best practices

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS The Market Development Director reports to the MEP GM. Within PH MEP, this person will work closely with the Development Team (Global CDO, Market Development Manager, Development Specialist and Design & Construction team) and key cross-functional partners such as Finance, Marketing, Operations, Supply Chain, R&D / QA and HR. The Market Development Director will also interact with his / her markets\xe2\x80\x99 respective Franchise General Managers, Chief Development Officers and Development teams. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIRED \xc2\xa7 Degree in Real Estate, Engineering, or Business / Finance; MBA graduate preferred \xc2\xa7 At least 10+ years of experience in a strategy / commercial / planning role \xc2\xa7 QSR, Retail, FMCG, Real Estate, Strategy Consulting experience is relevant \xc2\xa7 Previous business experience in MENA is a strong preference; cultural familiarity would be highly valued \xc2\xa7 Clear and concise thinker with strong written and verbal communication skills \xc2\xa7 Strong presentation and analytical skills \xc2\xa7 Advanced PowerPoint and Excel capabilities \xc2\xa7 Executive presence / maturity and awareness of the broader business context \xc2\xa7 High proficiency in financial business modeling
