Position Overview

We are looking for an experienced and technically sound

Design Manager

to lead the design operations for

aluminum and facade systems

within a leading facade engineering firm in the UAE. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, in-depth technical expertise, and proven experience in delivering complex facade projects aligned with local regulations and international standards.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership:

Manage and mentor the in-house design team responsible for developing shop drawings, fabrication details, and technical documentation.

Design Management:

Interpret architectural and structural drawings to create innovative, cost-effective, and compliant facade solutions.

Stakeholder Coordination:

Collaborate with consultants, architects, main contractors, and clients to obtain timely design approvals.

Regulatory Compliance:

Ensure all design outputs adhere to UAE building codes and international facade engineering standards.

Material Selection:

Evaluate and select facade materials based on performance, durability, aesthetics, and cost-efficiency.

Value Engineering:

Identify alternative design solutions to optimize constructability and reduce overall project costs.

Project Documentation:

Oversee the management of design revisions, documentation, and version control protocols.

Resource Allocation:

Assign design tasks, manage team workload, and ensure delivery of outputs within set project timelines.

Pre-Construction Support:

Assist in preparing technical proposals, conceptual facade designs, and supporting documents for tenders.

Site & Mock-Up Review:

Participate in project site inspections and mock-up reviews to ensure design implementation accuracy.

Candidate Requirements

Education:

Bachelor's degree in

Architecture, Civil Engineering

, or related field (mandatory) Master's degree or certification in

Facade Engineering

is a plus

Experience:

8-10 years of hands-on facade design experience, with

at least 3 years in a managerial role

Strong portfolio of

UAE-based facade projects

, demonstrating familiarity with local codes, approvals, and client expectations

Technical Expertise:

Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, Rhino, and design tools like

Tekla Structures

or

STAAD Pro

In-depth understanding of facade systems, including:

Curtain Wall Systems

Aluminum Composite Panels (ACP)

Unitized Facades

Spider Glazing

Thermal and Cladding Systems

Skills & Attributes:
