with 5-7 years of relevant experience in the design of
Medium Voltage (MV)
and
Low Voltage (LV) Capacitor Bank Panels
. The candidate should possess deep technical knowledge in component selection, protection schemes, system calculations, and a strong understanding of IEC standards. This role also involves supporting sales and QC teams through technical inputs and testing support.
Key Responsibilities:
Design & Engineering
Design MV and LV capacitor bank panels as per customer specifications and applicable IEC standards.
Perform technical calculations such as:
Capacitor bank
inrush current
Busbar sizing
and thermal/stress design
Unbalance current
calculations
Prepare detailed Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), wiring diagrams, and general arrangement drawings.
Perform necessary mechanical calculations and select optimum Mounting and fixing brackets for Capacitors, Reactors, Fuses, Busbar and other components
Component Selection
Select appropriate components including:
Power Capacitors
Detuned/Series Reactors
Vacuum or SF6 control contactors
Isolators
,
Lightning Arrestors
Capacitor Protection and Power Factor Control Relays
Sales & Pre-Sales Support
Analyze tender documents and technical specifications.
Prepare
Bill of Materials (BOM)
, compliance statements, and technical offers.
Participate in technical discussions with clients and support the Sales team.
Quality & Testing
Provide technical support to the
Quality Control team
during
Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs)
.
Troubleshoot and resolve design or functional issues during panel testing.
Standards & Compliance
Ensure all designs comply with relevant
IEC standards
(e.g., IEC 60831, IEC 61921, IEC 61439).
Maintain design documentation and revision control per ISO or internal quality standards.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor's Degree
in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university.
5-7 years of hands-on experience in MV/LV capacitor bank panel design, preferably in the Middle East
Strong knowledge of capacitor/reactor selection, contactor types (Vacuum/SF6), and associated protection/control schemes.
Proficiency in power system design calculations and analysis.
Familiarity with electrical design tools (e.g., AutoCAD, EPLAN, or similar).
Working knowledge of relevant
IEC standards
for capacitor banks and switchgear.
Excellent documentation, communication, and cross-functional coordination skills.
