. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing ambulance layouts and systems, ensuring high performance, safety, ergonomic functionality, and compliance with international standards. The role involves close collaboration with production, procurement, and quality control teams to deliver fully equipped, customized ambulances tailored to client needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Ambulance Design and Customization:
Develop complete ambulance interior and exterior designs, including stretcher layout, cabinetry, oxygen systems, electrical wiring, HVAC, and medical equipment integration.
Create 2D and 3D models using design software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc.).
Prepare detailed fabrication drawings, BOMs, and assembly instructions.
Engineering and Process Optimization:
Ensure designs are functional, ergonomic, manufacturable, and cost-effective.
Improve production processes using industrial engineering principles and lean manufacturing.
Collaborate with the production team to ensure smooth implementation of design to build.
Standards & Compliance:
Ensure all designs comply with international ambulance standards (e.g., EN 1789, NFPA 1917, KSA/GCC MOH specifications).
Perform safety analysis and testing support during prototyping and final build.
Project Coordination and Documentation:
Work closely with cross-functional teams including procurement, quality, and sales.
Support customization requests based on client requirements and government tenders.
Provide technical support during client inspections, approvals, and commissioning.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
3-5 years of experience in ambulance or special-purpose vehicle design.
Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Inventor.
Strong understanding of electrical, HVAC, and medical equipment systems.
Familiarity with international ambulance standards and vehicle safety codes.
Excellent communication and technical documentation skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills:
Knowledge of vehicle body building and upfitting practices.
Hands-on experience in prototype development and testing.
Experience in collaborating with health sector clients or ministries of health.
Understanding of lightweight materials, insulation, and emergency lighting systems.
