Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative 3D Design Engineer with a strong specialization in additive manufacturing (3D printing) with a minimum of 2 years experience in 3D Printing. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing 3D models and processes for various 3D printing technologies. This role requires a blend of creative design, strong engineering principles, and a deep understanding of the capabilities and limitations of additive manufacturing to bring cutting-edge products to life.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and optimize 3D models using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA, Fusion 360, Rhino) specifically for additive manufacturing, considering design for additive manufacturing (DFAM) principles.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product designers, mechanical engineers, manufacturing specialists, and quality assurance personnel, to translate conceptual ideas into feasible and high-quality 3D printable designs.
- Select appropriate 3D printing materials (plastics, metals, ceramics, composites, etc.) and technologies (FDM, SLA, SLS, MJF, etc.) based on project requirements, material properties, and desired performance.
- Prepare digital files for 3D printing, including slicing, support generation, and orientation optimization, to ensure optimal print quality, structural integrity, and efficiency.
- Conduct simulations and analyses (e.g., FEA) to validate the structural integrity, functionality, and performance of 3D printed parts.
- Troubleshoot and resolve design and printing issues, continuously improving processes and identifying new applications for additive manufacturing.
- Operate and maintain 3D printers, ensuring optimal operational condition and adherence to quality, environment, health, and safety standards.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements, trends, and best practices in 3D printing technologies, materials, and design software.
-Document design procedures, material specifications, and testing results accurately.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, Materials Science, or a related engineering field.
- Proven experience (minimum 3-5 years preferred) in 3D modeling and design engineering, with a strong focus on additive manufacturing/3D printing.
- Proficiency in industry-standard 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA, Fusion 360, Rhino 3D Modeling Software).
- In-depth knowledge of various 3D printing technologies (FDM, SLA, SLS, MJF, etc.) and their respective design considerations.
- Strong understanding of different 3D printing materials and their characteristics.
- Experience with pre-processing and post-processing techniques for 3D printed parts.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a keen eye for detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong communication and presentation skills to effectively convey design concepts and technical information.
