We are seeking an experienced and results-oriented
Deputy Maintenance Manager - Heavy Equipment Machinery
to assist in overseeing the maintenance operations for a fleet of heavy equipment and machinery used in Oil & Gas and large-scale construction projects. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge, team leadership experience, and a proactive approach to equipment reliability and operational efficiency.
Support the Maintenance Manager in developing and executing preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance schedules for heavy equipment such as cranes, excavators, loaders, graders, dozers, and forklifts.
Monitor maintenance KPIs (MTBF, MTTR, availability, etc.) and implement action plans for improvement.
Coordinate with workshop teams and site supervisors to minimize equipment downtime and optimize asset utilization.
Technical Oversight:
Diagnose major mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues in heavy machinery and coordinate complex repairs with technical staff or OEM representatives.
Ensure all maintenance activities comply with manufacturer specifications and HSE regulations.
Inventory & Spare Parts Management:
Supervise inventory control of critical spares and consumables; initiate procurement as needed to avoid downtime.
Evaluate vendors and suppliers for spare parts quality, lead time, and cost-effectiveness.
Team Leadership & Development:
Lead a team of mechanics, technicians, and maintenance coordinators; ensure proper training, supervision, and performance evaluation.
Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement in maintenance practices.
Documentation & Compliance:
Maintain accurate records of equipment service history, breakdown reports, and inspection checklists.
Ensure compliance with ISO standards, OEM recommendations, and internal maintenance procedures.
Assist in audits and reporting related to equipment maintenance and HSE compliance.
Coordination & Reporting:
Liaise with site operations, project teams, and equipment dispatch teams to align maintenance plans with operational requirements.
Prepare periodic reports on equipment performance, maintenance costs, and improvement initiatives for senior management.
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Technology, or related field.
Minimum
10 years of hands-on experience
in
heavy equipment maintenance
within the
Oil & Gas or construction sector
, with at least
3 years in a leadership role
.
Proven experience managing maintenance operations for equipment such as earthmoving machinery, lifting equipment, and specialized construction vehicles.
Technical Skills:
In-depth knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems
Familiarity with maintenance management systems (CMMS)
Knowledge of HSE requirements related to equipment and site maintenance
Understanding of OEM standards and warranty handling
Soft Skills:
Strong organizational and leadership skills
Ability to manage priorities and work under pressure
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Certifications (Preferred):
OEM Training Certifications (e.g., Caterpillar, Komatsu, Volvo, etc.)
NEBOSH / OSHA certification (a plus)
CMMS software training (e.g., SAP PM, Maximo, or similar)
