We are recruiting a Dean of Curriculum A key Senior Leadership role. Line Manager is the Principal Support and liaise closely with the Principal and Vice Principal, Middle leaders, SENCO, Accounts, Manager School Facilities, Parent Relations Executive and teachers in all aspects of curriculum development for all leaners The successful candidate will be a highly effective and experienced teacher / leader who will: General Responsibilities:
    • Promote and model Code of Conduct & GEMS Core Values
    • Undertake professional duties as delegated by LM (teaching, recruitment, detention and other cover, after-school duty, ASP (After School Program), MoE formalities, covering for LM than absent, inspection preparation, SEF (School Self Evaluation), SDP (School Development Plan) etc.
    • Promote the school positively with community & GEMS, while maintaining complete confidentiality
    • Respect, local culture, customs, and laws
    • Meet deadlines as requested by LM
    • Lead on the review and development of the curriculum against the standards
    • Ensure academic excellence in internal and external assessments
    • Lead the professional development programme to ensure high-quality learning an assessment
    • Be a part of the leadership team, focusing on whole school environment
    • Promote the school to all stakeholders and the wider community
Academic and Pastoral Responsibilities:
  • responsible for planning and overseeing the development, implementation and monitoring of the school\'s curriculum KG to Grade 12. This may include scrutiny of documents, liaising with internal teaching staff, as well as relevant external professionals
  • familiarize with relevant national policies, practices and legislation that relates to the Curriculum standards and expectations
  • align the academic curriculum with the National standards, International standards and other international benchmarking tests - CBSE, TIMSS, PISA, PIRLS and ASSET
  • develop a strategic vision for continual improvement in the scope and sequence of the school\xe2\x80\x99s curriculum
  • document and communicate the scope and sequence for each grade level, monitor grade-level progress against scope and sequence benchmarks
  • ensure that the curriculum offered meets the standards of quality, including relevance to real-world issues and current needs
  • develop appropriate monitoring systems and the provision of training and professional development
  • review student records and evaluate student performance to determine if students need extra help in certain subjects or if they should be promoted to the next grade level
  • develop educational programmes for students with special needs, students with learning disabilities, or students who are struggling academically in addition to the catering to the needs of gifted students
  • provide feedback to the Principal, Vice Principal, Dean of Teaching & Learning and SMT in relation to the effectiveness of current systems, and raising awareness of new learning frameworksresearch, design, and/or supplement the academic curriculum for all subjects and grades based on successful models and approaches
  • evaluate, approve, and procure curricular materials such as textbooks, resources and other materials
  • collaborate with the Principal, Vice Principal, Dean of T&L, SMT, SECO and other school staff to maximize the ability to support students\xe2\x80\x99 academic and socio-emotional development, establish policies and procedures for the schoolWork directly with Supervisors and Heads of Departments to mentor/coach and be instrumental in ensuring highest academic standards in every section of the school (Curriculum, Innovation, care and support)
  • participate in staff recruitment; perform other related duties as required and assigned
  • be a part of a thriving Leadership Team focusing on the whole school environment
  • promote the school to all stakeholders and the wider community
  • maintain a safe and efficient learning environment for students and staff members
Other
  • Follow, support & help to develop all school aims, vision, improvement plans, policies and practices
  • Meet deadlines as required by the Line Manager
  • Promote the school positively with community & GEMS while maintaining complete confidentiality
  • Respect the local culture, customs and laws
  • Promote and model GEMS & School Code of Conduct & Core Values
To be considered for this appointment, you must have:
  • A minimum of 5 years in leadership role (Supervisor or similar) which could be a combination covering the Primary, Middle, Senior and Senior Secondary sections
  • A solid understanding of the CBSE curriculum and pattern of assessment as well as the UAE United Inspection Framework - related standards and the latest trends in educational thinking and pedagogy.
  • A proven track record of developing and sustaining very high educational standards within a caring learning environment.
  • A Post Graduate Degree in a mainstream teaching subject in addition to a Graduate Degree in Education from a recognized university. A Teaching qualification is mandatory.
