Job Title: Dance Teacher
Reporting To: Head of Department / Head of Performing Arts / Principal

1. Job Purpose:
The Dance Teacher will cultivate a passion for dance as an art form and a means of physical expression. This role involves developing students' technical skills, creativity, and cultural appreciation through dance, while integrating the rich cultural heritage of the UAE with diverse global dance forms, in line with the holistic and artistic development goals of both UAE and NCERT educational frameworks.
2. Key Responsibilities:
A. Curriculum and Instruction:

• Design and implement a sequential dance curriculum that covers various genres (e.g., ballet, contemporary, jazz, hip-hop) and includes an appreciation of traditional Emirati and other Arab dance forms.
• Teach dance techniques, choreographic principles, anatomy for dancers, and the historical and cultural context of different dance styles.
• Choreograph original pieces for class instruction, school productions, and performances.
• Create a supportive and inclusive environment where students feel confident to express themselves and take creative risks.
• Differentiate instruction to accommodate beginners through to advanced dancers.

B. Performance and Production:

• Direct and produce the school's annual dance show or major performances, managing all aspects from choreography and music selection to costumes and staging.
• Prepare students for internal showcases and external dance competitions/festivals.
• Collaborate with the Music and Drama departments to create integrated performing arts productions.

C. Assessment and Development:

• Assess students on technical proficiency, artistic expression, creativity in choreography, and theoretical understanding.
• Provide ongoing, formative feedback to help students refine their skills and artistic voice.
• Maintain a portfolio of student work and performance records.

D. School and Community Engagement:

• Lead after-school dance clubs and ensembles to further develop student talent and interest.
• Use dance as a medium to celebrate national and international events, reflecting the multicultural community of the UAE.
• Promote dance as a vital component of a well-rounded education.

3. Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:

• Essential: Bachelor's degree in Dance, Performing Arts, or a related field. A teaching certification (PGCE, B.Ed.) is mandatory.
• Essential: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience teaching dance in a structured school setting in the UAE.
• Knowledge: Strong understanding of dance pedagogy and a commitment to aligning practice with the UAE's vision for cultural preservation and innovation, as well as NCERT's emphasis on arts education.
• Skills: High level of proficiency in at least two dance forms. Excellent choreographic skills. Ability to motivate and inspire students of all ages. Strong organizational and production management skills.
