The Customs Documentation & Logistics Officer is responsible for managing the end-to-end logistics operations, focusing on efficient import and export processes and ensuring full compliance with international trade and customs regulations. This role requires proficient use of Microsoft Dynamics NAV (Navision) to manage inventory, track shipments, process orders, and maintain accurate logistics records.
Key Responsibilities
Documentation Management:
Prepare, verify, and process all necessary import/export documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin (COO), bills of lading (BOL), and customs entries, ensuring accuracy and compliance with legal requirements.
Customs Clearance & Compliance:
Coordinate with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and relevant authorities (e.g., customs officials, government agencies) to facilitate timely customs clearance and ensure adherence to all local and international trade laws and special procedures (e.g., AEO, IPR).
Logistics Coordination:
Plan and coordinate the transportation of goods (via air, sea, and road freight) from suppliers to final destinations, optimizing routes for cost-efficiency and timeliness.
Utilize Navision for accurate data entry, inventory management, and tracking of all logistics activities.
Process sales and purchase orders within the ERP system, ensuring seamless coordination between procurement, sales, and warehouse teams.
Generate reports on shipment statuses, inventory levels, and logistics metrics from Navision to support decision-making.
Shipment Monitoring & Issue Resolution:
Track and monitor all shipments, proactively identifying and resolving any delays, issues, or discrepancies that arise during transit or customs clearance.
Vendor Management:
Negotiate rates and manage relationships with freight carriers, suppliers, and third-party logistics (3PL) providers to ensure reliable and cost-effective services.
Record Keeping & Auditing:
Maintain organized physical and digital records of all logistics and customs documentation, supporting internal and external audits.
Qualifications & Skills
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a logistics, supply chain, or customs documentation role.
ERP Proficiency:
Proven, strong working experience with
Microsoft Dynamics NAV (Navision)
or Business Central for logistics, inventory, and order processing functions is a mandatory requirement.
Knowledge:
Comprehensive knowledge of international shipping procedures, Incoterms, and import/export regulations.
Skills:
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work independently and under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
