We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Cost Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in preparing cost estimates specifically for ship repair and mechanical work. This role plays a key part in ensuring accurate project planning, bidding, and financial forecasting.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for ship repair and mechanical work based on project specifications, technical drawings, and site visits.
Review RFQs, work scopes, and technical documentation to determine labor, material, and equipment costs.
Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and project management teams to gather necessary data and validate estimates.
Maintain cost databases and regularly update unit costs based on current market rates and past project data.
Support the proposal and bidding process by preparing commercial and technical submissions.
Ensure compliance with customer requirements, industry standards, and company policies.
Document all estimates clearly and maintain organized records for audits and project reviews.
Assist in budget preparation and post-project cost analysis as needed.
Qualifications & Skills:
Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a related technical field.
Minimum 3 years of experience in cost estimation for ship repair, marine, or industrial mechanical work.
Proficient in reading engineering drawings, technical specs, and BOQs.
Familiarity with shipyard operations and marine/mechanical systems.
Strong analytical and numerical skills with attention to detail.
Excellent documentation, presentation, and communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel; experience with estimation software is a plus.
