Role Overview
The Cost Engineer / Quantity Surveyor is responsible for cost planning, estimation, budgeting, and commercial management of projects to ensure financial efficiency and compliance with contractual requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare cost estimates, cost plans, and Bills of Quantities (BOQs).
Monitor project budgets, expenditures, and cash flow.
Evaluate tenders, bids, and commercial proposals.
Administer contracts and manage variations, claims, and change orders.
Prepare interim valuations, progress payments, and final accounts.
Conduct value engineering and cost optimization exercises.
Track and report cost performance and forecast final project costs.
Coordinate with project managers, engineers, consultants, and contractors.
Ensure compliance with contract terms (FIDIC or equivalent) and company policies.
Support commercial negotiations and dispute resolution as required.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related discipline.
Minimum 5 years' experience in cost engineering / quantity surveying (adjustable).
Experience in building, infrastructure, or industrial projects.
Strong knowledge of construction contracts and commercial management.
Proficiency in MS Excel and cost control software (Primavera, CostX, PlanSwift, etc.).
