The Cost Control Director is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing cost control systems across all construction projects. This role ensures financial discipline, accurate forecasting, and alignment with organizational budgetary goals. The director collaborates with project managers, finance teams, and procurement to monitor expenditures and identify cost-saving opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
Budget Development:
Create and manage project and departmental budgets aligned with company financial goals.
Cost Estimation:
Oversee preparation of detailed cost estimates, factoring in materials, labor, equipment, and contingencies.
Monitoring & Reporting:
Track actual costs vs. budgeted costs, perform variance analysis, and report findings to senior management.
Forecasting:
Provide accurate financial forecasts and update projections based on project progress and market conditions.
Cost Optimization:
Identify areas for cost reduction and implement cost control procedures across the organization.
Compliance:
Ensure adherence to financial policies, regulatory standards, and internal controls.
Team Leadership:
Lead and mentor cost control teams, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Finance, or related field; MBA or equivalent preferred.
Experience:
Minimum 10-15 years in construction cost control, with at least 5 years in a senior or director-level role.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in cost management software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Primavera), MS Excel, and financial modeling.
Certifications:
PMP, CCP (Certified Cost Professional), or equivalent credentials are advantageous.
