About The Role

Our Gateley Legal Dubai team advises clients across a wide range of industry sectors on both contentious and non-contentious matters, helping them navigate the complexities of doing business in the United Arab Emirates and wider Middle East and North Africa region. The role Our business is ambitious for success and in order to manage a strong pipeline of existing work and take up many other opportunities, we have exciting plans to grow our Corporate offering in our Dubai office. We are seeking to recruit an associate to join our busy Corporate team in Dubai. The role will involve working alongside the Corporate Partner, Legal Director and a Senior Counsel, with dotted line supervisory and management of a paralegal. The successful candidate will have familiarity with and provide support on:
  • corporate matters (e.g. M&A transactions, joint ventures, shareholder agreements, structuring, investment agreements, management buyouts, fund formation and other corporate services);
  • commercial contracts (e.g. services agreements, variations and amendments, franchise agreements, hotel operation/management agreements and other commercial contracts);
  • real estate transactions (e.g. drafting residential and commercial leases, agreements for the acquisition or sale of real estate, escrow arrangements and colocation leases/licenses); and
  • banking and finance (e.g. drafting guarantees, facility agreements, security documents, legal opinions as local counsel in financing transactions, share pledges and moveables security agreements)
In each case with supervision where needed by one of the senior lawyers. The individual will be exposed to a number of practice areas based on a sector focused practice revolving around real estate and infrastructure projects in the Middle East and North Africa. The successful candidate will be empowered to manage a number of transactions with the support of the team with the have the opportunity to assume greater levels of responsibility very quickly. From time to time it may be required to provide support to other units within the Dubai office (including but not limited to the Disputes team). This position will be supported by a paralegal, whom the individual will manage and supervise. Please note this role is a full-time position (40 hours). The person We are interested in speaking with candidates who ideally have between four to five years\' post-qualification experience gained in a Corporate team. In particular you will have experience of working in the Middle East and the Emirate of Dubai, advising on both UAE law and English law. The successful candidate will be required to \'hit the ground running\' and be comfortable working autonomously. They will have the advantage of an immediate stream of work alongside having the opportunity to expand their own network. They will possess the ability to work as part of a team whilst also being able to manage their own workload and manage/supervise a junior team member. In particular we look for the following attributes:
  • Ideally four to five years\' post qualified experience gained within a Corporate team in a commercial law firm
