KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Coop Trainee will have the opportunity to learn and assist in various aspects of graphic design, including but not limited to:
Design Assistance:
Support senior designers in the creation of visual content for various platforms, including digital (social media, website, email) and print (brochures, presentations, advertisements).
Brand Adherence:
Learn and apply VML's brand guidelines rigorously to ensure consistency across all visual communications.
Asset Creation:
Assist in developing and preparing design assets, including images, icons, illustrations, and layouts, using industry-standard software.
Research & Ideation:
Participate in brainstorming sessions and conduct research to support design concepts and creative strategies.
File Management:
Organize and maintain design files and assets efficiently.
Feedback Integration:
Incorporate feedback from team members and stakeholders into design revisions.
Learning & Development:
Proactively seek out learning opportunities, ask questions, and engage with the team to deepen understanding of design processes and project workflows.
Administrative Support:
Provide general administrative support to the Creative Department as needed.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS (Early Careers Focus):
Education:
Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Multimedia Design, or a related creative field, with a university requirement for a cooperative training period or internship.
Graduation Status:
This
early careers role
is specifically tailored for students looking to fulfill their university training requirements. Recent graduates (within the last 12 months) seeking foundational professional experience and a launchpad for their career will also be considered.
Portfolio:
A strong academic or personal portfolio showcasing design aptitude, creativity, and technical skills is essential. We are keen to see your potential and passion!
DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES:
Design Software Proficiency:
Demonstrated knowledge and some hands-on experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign are critical; After Effects, Premiere Pro, XD are a plus).
Design Fundamentals:
Basic understanding of design principles including typography, color theory, layout, and visual hierarchy.
Prior Experience:
While this is an
entry-level training position
, approximately 6 months of prior exposure to design projects through academic assignments, personal projects, freelance work, or a previous short-term internship is highly desirable as it shows initiative and basic practical application.
Communication Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (Arabic is a significant plus). Ability to articulate design ideas and receive constructive feedback.
Eagerness to Learn:
A genuine passion for graphic design and a strong desire to learn, grow, and contribute in a fast-paced environment. This role is about developing your professional skills.
