Contracts Director

We are working with a leading contracting company in the UAE, who have a rich history of delivering a wide range of high-quality residential, commercial, and infrastructure projects, to source a Contracts Director. As Contracts Director, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in overseeing the contractual aspects of the company projects. Expertise in claims and disputes management will be essential in protecting the company against risks and ensuring the smooth execution of post-contract activities.

Responsibilities

• Ensure an efficient contract administration in terms of negotiation, drafting, & signature by all relevant parties
• Identifying and recording and managing variance or change, extension of time, disputes for filing or defending against any claim that may arise in the future.
• Managing amicable relations between all contracted parties and handling all concerns with utmost diplomacy to avoid disputes and promotes harmonious negotiations & settlements.
• Ensuring that all documentations ranging from contractual records & correspondence to various version changes, status reports, work orders, invoices & receipts are complete, sequenced, & easily accessible when required.
• Ensure accurate contract interpretation and smooth compliance, on providing support & guidance to all the functions of the Project.
• Efficient coordination with the risk management team for contractual insurance needs for the project and managing the renewals & closures of such policies with the insurance company.
• Complementing all aspects of the project through continuous monitoring & guidance of contractual obligations, securing an extensive knowledge of the construction sector- legal, technical, & financial, to ensure complete contractual compliance.
• Lead the contracts department, overseeing all contractual aspects of construction projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor\'s degree in Construction or Engineering with supplementary legal qualifications, i.e, LLM, MCIArb
• At least 15 years experience within construction with at least 5 years in a Sr Contracts Management position
• Previous experience working in Contracting firms, ideally in the UAE
• In-depth knowledge of the Dubai/UAE courts system and experience in handling contentious claims
• Strong background in contract law, with a focus on construction contracts
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and leadership skills.
