Job Summary: The Consultant/Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB-GYN) is responsible for providing high-quality medical care to women, focusing on pregnancy, childbirth, reproductive health, and disorders of the female reproductive system. The role involves diagnosing and treating conditions, performing surgical procedures, and offering preventive care and counseling. The consultant will also supervise junior medical staff, participate in research, and contribute to departmental development. Key Responsibilities: Clinical Duties:

  • Provide comprehensive obstetric and gynecological care, including prenatal, antenatal, and postnatal care.
  • Perform diagnostic procedures such as ultrasounds, colposcopies, and biopsies.
  • Conduct surgical procedures, including cesarean sections, hysterectomies, laparoscopies, and other gynecological surgeries.
  • Manage high-risk pregnancies and complications in collaboration with other specialists.
  • Diagnose and treat conditions such as endometriosis, PCOS, infertility, fibroids, and gynecologic cancers.
  • Provide family planning services, including contraceptive counseling and sterilization procedures.
  • Manage menopause-related health issues and hormone replacement therapy.
  • Ensure adherence to clinical guidelines, safety protocols, and ethical medical practices.
Administrative & Supervisory Duties:
  • Supervise and mentor residents, interns, and junior doctors.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, case reviews, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in compliance with hospital policies.
  • Contribute to hospital committees, policy development, and accreditation processes.
Academic & Research Duties (if applicable):
  • Engage in clinical research and contribute to medical publications.
  • Participate in teaching medical students, residents, and nursing staff.
  • Attend and present at conferences, workshops, and continuing medical education (CME) programs.
Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Medical Degree (MBBS/MD) from an accredited institution.
  • Board Certification / Fellowship in Obstetrics and Gynecology (e.g., FRCOG, FACOG, MRCOG, or equivalent).
  • Valid medical license to practice in the relevant country/state.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in OB-GYN, including surgical expertise.
  • Proficiency in laparoscopic and minimally invasive surgical techniques (preferred).
  • Strong communication, leadership, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work in high-pressure environments, including emergency obstetric care.
Work Environment:
  • Hospital-based with shifts, including nights, weekends, and on-call duties.
  • Collaboration with midwives, nurses, anesthesiologists, and other specialists.
