As a commis chef specializing in sushi, you will support the senior sushi chefs in preparing fresh, high-quality sushi and sashimi, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring food safety standards. Key Responsibilities:

Assist in the preparation of sushi, sashimi, maki, nigiri, and other Japanese dishes. Maintain high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness, and organization in all areas of the kitchen. Prepare ingredients by cleaning, cutting, and organizing fish, vegetables, and rice under guidance. Ensure all food is stored and handled in compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations. Assist senior chefs with mise en place and service prep. Learn and follow recipes, techniques, and plating standards. Keep kitchen equipment clean and in good working order. Follow instructions from senior kitchen staff and take feedback constructively. Maintain stock rotation and assist with inventory as needed.

Requirements:

Previous experience in a kitchen, preferably in sushi or Japanese cuisine (internships or culinary school graduates welcome). Basic knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards. Passion for Japanese food and a willingness to learn. Good knife skills and attention to detail. Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Strong team spirit and communication skills. Flexibility with working hours, including weekends and holidays.
