is an entry-level kitchen position responsible for assisting chefs in food preparation, maintaining hygiene standards, and ensuring efficient kitchen operations. This role provides hands-on learning and supports the culinary team in daily kitchen activities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Food Preparation
Assist chefs in the preparation of ingredients, such as washing, peeling, cutting, and portioning.
Prepare basic dishes, sauces, and garnishes under supervision.
Follow recipes and instructions accurately to maintain quality and consistency.
2. Kitchen Hygiene & Safety
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of workstations, kitchen tools, and equipment.
Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene standards (HACCP).
Properly store ingredients and raw materials to prevent contamination.
3. Equipment & Stock Handling
Operate kitchen equipment safely under supervision.
Help in receiving, storing, and rotating stock.
Report shortages, damages, or equipment malfunctions to the Chef de Partie or Steward.
4. Support to Kitchen Team
Assist chefs and kitchen staff in day-to-day operations.
Perform any additional duties as assigned by the senior chefs.
Participate in kitchen cleaning and end-of-day closing duties.
Qualifications & Skills
Previous experience in a kitchen (preferred but not mandatory).
Basic knowledge of food preparation and kitchen operations.
Willingness to learn and take instructions from senior chefs.
Good physical stamina and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Team player with a positive attitude.
