Job Summary:

The CNC Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the optimal performance, reliability, and precision of CNC machines by performing routine preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and calibrations. The technician will work closely with production and engineering teams to minimize downtime and maintain high standards of machine accuracy and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

Machine Maintenance & Troubleshooting

Perform preventive, time-based, and condition-based maintenance on CNC machines and related equipment. Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems of CNC machines. Diagnose and resolve issues related to spindles, gearboxes, linear motion rails & bearings, ball screws, tool magazines, ATC (Automatic Tool Changer), APC (Automatic Pallet Changer), and centralized lubrication systems.

Mechanical & Electrical Competence

Read and interpret mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic drawings and schematics. Inspect and maintain CNC drives, servo motors, sensors, and controllers. Carry out root cause analysis for alignment, calibration, or software issues.

Precision & Accuracy Maintenance

Use precision measuring instruments like dial gauges, micrometers, and calipers to maintain and verify machine accuracy and tolerances. Calibrate and align machine components to maintain required precision levels.

Pneumatics & Hydraulics

Maintain and troubleshoot pneumatic and hydraulic fixtures and systems. Install, repair, and test pneumatic/hydraulic components as needed.

Programming & Controls

Understand and work with CNC programming (M-codes and G-codes) for basic testing and troubleshooting. Support the handling of CNC software-related problems and coordinate with vendors if needed.

Tooling & Fixtures

Ensure proper maintenance and setup of CNC precision tooling. Assist in the installation and alignment of jigs, fixtures, and special toolings.

Documentation & Reporting

Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs. Assist in developing and updating preventive maintenance plans.

Safety & Compliance

Adhere to all safety protocols and ensure that machines meet operational safety standards. Recommend and implement improvements for safe and efficient machine operation.

Key Requirements:

Technical diploma or ITI in Mechanical / Electrical / Mechatronics Engineering or related field. 3+ years of hands-on experience in CNC machine maintenance. Strong knowledge of CNC machine components and their functionality (spindles, gearboxes, LM rails/bearings, ball screws, tool magazines, ATC, APC, lubrication systems). Proficient in reading mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic drawings. Good understanding of CNC programming basics (M-codes & G-codes). Competence in using precision measurement tools (dial gauges, micrometers, calipers). Familiarity with CNC drives, servo motors, sensors, and control systems. Strong problem-solving skills with root cause analysis experience. Knowledge of industrial pneumatics and hydraulics. Basic knowledge of CNC software handling and updates. Good communication and teamwork skills.

Working Conditions:

Shop floor environment with exposure to machinery, lubricants, and noise. Requires use of PPE and adherence to safety guidelines.
