Job Description

To support the delivery of clinical education, practice development and improvement within the assigned nursing areas (between 4 - 7 nursing units) and also across the department of nursing. The post holder will participate in the delivery of the Nursing Education Plan as agreed by the Chief Nursing Officer and specifically work with their assigned nurse managers in developing and delivering robust unit based nurse education plans and supporting preceptorship of new nurses. Provide a consistent and co-ordinated approach to practice development, education and training in the assigned unit, including induction training Assess the impact of all existing and new education plans and make recommendations for change. Challenge non-compliance with agreed protocols and guidance relating to care provision Manage a local database of Nursing Education for Mandatory Training, Core Training and compliance Work with the Senior Nurse Manger and Nurse Managers of assigned units and key others to ensure that practice development activity meets the needs of individual clinical areas Support the implementation of nursing standards of good practice Take responsibility for maintaining and developing current knowledge and competence by keeping abreast of best practice and continued clinical practice Support, develop and evaluate the use of competency based approaches to orientation and ongoing learning Assist nursing staff to develop and maintain their personal professional profiles; facilitate and encourage nursing staff involvement in all aspects of their own development and that of their colleagues Promote evidence-based practice by disseminating research findings and contributing to the development of research appraisal skills Facilitate the development of evidence-based care standards, care improvement bundles and care plans Collaborate with nursing staff to promote a high standard of care throughout the hospital Build and maintain effective communication between all members of the multidisciplinary team. This includes international guidance and key drivers e.g. Nursing Standards of Care and Professionalism; evidence based guidelines and protocols of practice, clinical competency implementation and monitoring. Local issues identified through audit and compliance against standards and training will also be monitored locally and through the Nursing Education Plan and managed at department level. The post holder will ensure that statistical records are kept to demonstrate monitoring of training attendance and evaluation and provide quarterly review to Education Group and Nurse Management Group Registered Nurse with relevant Bachelor Degree Qualification essential, and working towards Masters is desirable as the post requires a high level of professional knowledge and skills within their assigned area Excellent communication skills and ability to work in partnership with others Promotion of Learning and development Caring for staff Improving performance through team-working Decision making and change management abilities Achieving results Exemplifying Valiant Clinic and Hospital Values Facilitate Learning Participate in curriculum design Uses assessment and evaluation Pursue continuous quality Function as change agent and leader Facilitate learner development Job Types: Full-time, Permanent Application Question(s):
