• Identifying, analysing, assessing, preparing, and negotiating (sizeable or complex) contract changes and claims under the Consortium Agreement and Site Subcontracts, and providing claim support under the EPC Contract.
• A detailed understanding of HZIs Consortium and Subcontract Agreements is essential, and a working knowledge of the EPC contract is required.
• Support the Consortium Contract Manager related to inter-member consortium claims, alert him in relation to site issues that might have an impact, and proposes strategies to manage and resolve. Similarly advise the Project Director and Contract Manager Execution regarding client contract related issues.
• Take responsibility for prosecuting and defending claims of any sort (acceleration, global, loss and expense, delay,...) with regard to HZI's consortium partner (responsible for civil work) and HZI's subcontractors (for mechanical/process-related works) under English law.
• Assume overall responsibility for the claim management, including compiling documentation and correspondence and registers, maintaining the PIRS Claim database, risk assessment, claim strategy, timescales, responses, and settlement. Do this in conjunction with and by leading Site QS team members where appropriate.
• Ensure and tracks that necessary contractual correspondence is put in place to secure HZI's contractual position.
• Actively propose solutions for resolution of site issues, in particular dispute avoidance where possible.
• Together with relevant technical or project personnel participate in meetings and negotiations to reach commercial agreements with the consortium partner and subcontractors.
• Responsible for proper commercial closeout of claims including preparation of settlement agreements and releases in coordination with legal counsel

Your Qualifications

• Qualified Quantity Surveyor (BSc / MSc in Quantity Surveying, RICS or equivalent) > 10 years experience
• Legal qualification an advantage
• Formal claim preparation and disputes resolution qualification and experience
• Familiar with JV/consortium arrangements for project delivery
• Commercially aware with background in change management and producing claims
• Competent negotiator and able to convincingly carry complex arguments
• Flexible and independent while working within company policies and standards.
• Strong experience in construction of industrial plant project delivery, design and build / turnkey project delivery and bespoke contracts.
