Job Description

The Civil Project Engineer is responsible for overseeing the technical and operational aspects of civil engineering projects from conception to completion. This includes managing project schedules, budgets, resources, and coordinating with different stakeholders to ensure that projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Planning and Coordination:

Assist in the preparation and review of project plans, designs, and cost estimates for civil engineering projects. Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other engineers to ensure the project design meets client needs and regulatory standards. Develop and manage project schedules, ensuring milestones are achieved on time. Coordinate the procurement of materials, equipment, and labor for project execution.

Design and Technical Support:

Review and approve civil engineering designs, plans, and specifications to ensure they are accurate and comply with local building codes and regulations. Conduct engineering analyses and calculations related to structural, drainage, and roadway designs. Provide technical support to contractors and subcontractors during the construction phase.

Project Management:

Manage and supervise the daily operations of civil engineering works on site, ensuring that the work is completed according to the approved design and project schedule. Track project progress, identify potential risks, and implement corrective actions as needed. Prepare and maintain accurate project documentation, including daily reports, progress reports, and budgets. Ensure all necessary permits and approvals are obtained in accordance with local regulations.

Quality Control and Safety:

Conduct site inspections to ensure construction is proceeding according to plans and specifications. Monitor quality control and implement procedures to ensure the highest standards of work are being met. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and project-specific safety plans to minimize risks and ensure a safe working environment for all team members.

Client and Stakeholder Communication:

Act as the primary point of contact for clients, providing project updates and addressing concerns or issues. Liaise with local authorities, suppliers, and contractors to maintain smooth communication and coordination throughout the project.

Cost Control:

Monitor project costs and ensure that the project is delivered within the approved budget. Identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality or safety.

Problem Solving:

Troubleshoot engineering challenges or discrepancies that arise during construction. Propose solutions for resolving issues related to design, construction processes, or project constraints.

Qualifications and Skills:

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.

Experience:

Minimum of 5 years of experience in civil engineering, with a focus on project management in construction or infrastructure projects.

Certifications:

Professional Engineer (PE) or similar certifications preferred.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in civil engineering software (AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, etc.). Strong understanding of construction materials, methods, and equipment. Familiarity with project management tools (MS Project, Primavera, etc.).

Soft Skills:

Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Problem-solving ability and attention to detail.
