The Civil Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for all civil and interior fit-out works, including partitions, flooring, ceilings, joinery, finishes, and associated civil works. The role requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and experience in commercial, residential, retail, and office fit-out projects.
Key Responsibilities1. Estimation & Costing
Review and analyze drawings, BOQs, specifications, and tender documents for fit-out projects.
Prepare detailed cost estimates for:
Gypsum and block partitions
Ceiling systems (gypsum, grid, feature ceilings)
Flooring (tiles, vinyl, carpet, raised flooring)
Painting and wall finishes
Joinery and carpentry works
Doors, frames, and hardware
Minor civil works (wall openings, demolition, concrete repair, etc.)
Prepare material take-offs (MTOs), quantity calculations, and rate analysis.
Analyze project risks and consider alternative materials or methods (value engineering).
2. Supplier & Subcontractor Coordination
Float enquiries and obtain quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
Prepare comparison sheets to evaluate pricing and propose best options.
Maintain a price database for materials and services.
3. Documentation
Prepare and submit BOQs, cost summaries, and complete tender packages.
Draft technical clarifications and queries for consultants/clients.
Assist in preparing method statements or technical submittals when required.
4. Site & Technical Knowledge
Understanding of fit-out construction methods, materials, and finishing details.
Ability to read all types of drawings: architectural, fit-out layouts, RCP, flooring plans, sections, and details.
Familiarity with site execution processes and timeframes.
5. Post-Award Support
Support project teams with budget preparation and material procurement.
Coordinate with the Projects Department for handovers and cost-related clarifications.
