Job Summary:



The Clubs RYA Training Academy

You will be appointed as the Chief Instructor for the Sailing Academy and will be responsible for overseeing the safe operation of the Academy activities. This includes the programming, scheduling, and provision of courses under the RYA sailing scheme, along with all administrative elements to run an RYA training center. Work closely with The Club to promote and market sailing to the membership and local community

Key Responsibilities:



Program Management:



Design and deliver engaging sailing programs for juniors, adults, and families, including group lessons, private coaching, racing clinics, and camps.

Ensure lessons and activities align with national/international sailing certification standards (e.g., RYA, ASA).

Organize and oversee Club regattas, fun sails, and special sailing events

Member Experience:



Provide excellent customer service, build strong relationships with Club members, and tailor sailing programs to suit their needs.

Liaise and work closely with development and support of ADSC.

Serve as a visible and approachable leader on and off the water for The Club.

Section Support:



Serve as the primary liaison between the water sports sections (ADSC, ADRC, and ADSAC) and Management, ensuring effective communication and coordination.

Provide support to the Abu Dhabi Sailing Club in the development and delivery of member sailing activities, fostering a collaborative and mutually beneficial relationship.

Work closely with the Abu Dhabi Sailing Club to promote the section and support their Membership through pathways to sailing.

Safety & Compliance:



Enforce safety standards and emergency procedures during all water-based activities.

Conduct regular safety drills and ensure compliance with Club, maritime, and local safety regulations.

Maintain accurate records of incidents, certifications, and equipment usage.

Equipment & Facilities:



Oversee the maintenance, inventory, and storage of The Sailing Academies fleet (dinghies, keelboats, safety boats etc).

Schedule and carry out regular inspections, minor repairs, and coordinate larger maintenance with PRO, ADSC and external providers.

Administrative Duties:



Manage program budgets, staff rosters, and member communications.

Assist in marketing sailing programs via Club newsletters, social media, and events.

Prepare seasonal reports, feedback summaries, and development plans.

Qualifications:



RYA Senior Instructor or equivalent certification (e.g., ASA Instructor Trainer).

Minimum 5 years' experience teaching sailing, with at least 2 in a supervisory role.

Proven leadership skills in a water sports or club setting.

Excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills.

Current first aid, CPR, and powerboat handling certifications.

Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.

Preferred Attributes:



Experience working in a private club or resort environment.

Multilingual skills.

Experience organizing regattas and sailing competitions.

Strong mechanical aptitude for boat care and maintenance.

Experience developing and delivering activity days and programmes for schools and other external entities
