Job Description

We are currently searching for a Chief Legal officer for a Contracting/Construction Company based in Dubai.
The Chief Legal Officer must be ARABIC and have experience with FIDIC, construction law and corporate governance.
The successful candidate will work directly with the business in structuring, drafting and negotiating commercial transactions, provide day-to-day advice, resolving issues that arise in existing commercial relationships and handling pre-litigation legal disputes and inquiries.
Primary duties include handling legal issues in creative, business-centric ways and you will build processes that address risk and allow the business flexibility and freedom to move quickly. In addition to structuring, drafting, and negotiating commercial transactions and business structures, you will help resolve issues that arise in commercial relationships. You will be advising the business on a wide range of issues, working with: Compliance, PR, Public Policy, Marketing, Product, Finance and Tax teams to structure, negotiate and draft general business transactions and drive policy change and improvement across the business. You will counsel the business on a broad range of commercial and regulatory matters
RESPONSIBILITIES

• Draft, review, negotiate and advise internal stakeholders and negotiate with external counterparts on a variety of corporate matters.
• Advise internal stakeholders (and negotiate with external counterparts where relevant) on mergers and acquisitions, restructurings, and intra-group agreements.
• Support the team on governance-related matters.
• Support the team in managing investor relations.
• This is a hands-on role and you'll be expected to handle significant and complex legal matters with short turnaround times.

Requirements:

• 3-4 Years PQE
• 5+ years of legal experience (with at least two years at a law firm)
• Must be ARABIC and have experience with FIDIC, construction law and corporate governance
• Previous legal experience in Construction/ Contracting Business
• Strong corporate transactional background.
• Strong skills in drafting legal documents (corporate documents, internal procedures)
• Hands-on project management experience, including excellent organizational skills, the ability to manage a large number and variety of mission-critical projects, working independently and often in ambiguous environment
• Team player and consensus builder with great people skills who can effectively and efficiently collaborate and build relationships with attorneys and business clients at all levels
• Strong analytical and computer skills
• Common sense, great judgment

• Solid stakeholder management and engagement skills
• Must be responsible and result-oriented

• With some financial compliance experience.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English
• Hold a current practicing certificate
• The most important attribute is that you've been trained and qualified through a strong law firm route.
• Strong academic credentials including a law degree from a leading university and/or law school is required
