Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and reliable

Cat Handler & Nurse Assistant

to support the daily care, handling, and basic medical needs of cats. This role combines gentle animal handling with nursing and clinical support to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all cats in our care.

Key Responsibilities

Cat Handling & Care

Safely handle, restrain, and comfort cats during examinations and procedures Feed, clean, and maintain cat housing areas Monitor cat behavior, appetite, and overall condition Provide enrichment, socialization, and stress-reduction for cats Assist with intake, transfers, and adoption preparation

Nursing & Medical Support

Assist veterinarians or senior nurses during exams and treatments Administer medications as directed (oral, topical, or injectable if trained) Monitor vital signs and report changes or concerns Maintain medical records and treatment logs Clean and sterilize equipment and treatment areas Follow infection control and safety protocols
Qualifications

Experience handling cats (shelter, clinic, rescue, or personal experience preferred) Basic veterinary nursing knowledge or willingness to learn Calm, patient, and confident with animals of varying temperaments Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team Good observation and communication skills Physical ability to stand, bend, lift carriers, and handle animals safely
Preferred (but not required)

Veterinary nurse/assistant certification or training Experience in a shelter or veterinary clinic setting Knowledge of feline behavior and low-stress handling techniques
