Carpenter
Job Title: Carpenter
Department: Maintenance / Construction
Reporting To: Maintenance Supervisor / Project Manager
Job Purpose:
To construct, erect, install, maintain, and repair structures and fixtures made from wood, plywood, wallboard, and other materials.
Key Responsibilities:

• Measure, mark, cut, shape, and assemble materials according to specifications.
• Construct and install building frameworks, including walls, floors, and doorframes.
• Install structures and fixtures, such as windows, molding, cabinets, doors, and stairs.
• Repair or replace damaged frameworks, furniture, or other wooden structures.
• Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and technical drawings to understand project requirements.
• Select the appropriate materials and tools for each task.
• Inspect and replace damaged framework or other structures and fixtures.
• Adhere to local building codes and safety regulations.
• May work on rough carpentry (framing, formwork) or finish carpentry (detailed trim work).

Qualifications and Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a carpentry apprenticeship or vocational training is highly preferred.
• Several years of experience in construction or maintenance carpentry.

Skills and Competencies:

• Proficiency in using carpentry tools and machinery, both hand and power tools.
• Ability to read technical documents and take precise measurements.
• Strong understanding of wood properties and other carpentry materials.
• Excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
• Good problem-solving skills and mathematical abilities.

Working Conditions:

• Work is performed both indoors and outdoors on construction sites or in maintenance workshops.
• Involves standing, climbing, bending, and lifting heavy materials.
• Exposure to noise, dust, and weather conditions.
