Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor performance data across compute, storage, network, and application layers to identify trends and capacity constraints.
  • Forecast resource needs using historical patterns, business growth projections, and seasonal variations.
  • Provide performance impact assessments for new projects, releases, and planned infrastructure changes.
  • Identify underutilised or over-provisioned resources to support cost optimisation initiatives.
  • Maintain performance models and review them with architecture and engineering teams.
  • Develop KPIs and SLIs that track capacity headroom, saturation risk, performance thresholds, and utilisation efficiency.
  • Maintain documentation on capacity thresholds, baselines, and forecasting assumptions.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure teams, application owners, and finance to align capacity plans with business budgets.
  • Support post-incident investigations by determining whether capacity constraints contributed to performance degradation or outages.
  • Embed capacity planning practices into change management, release management, and IT strategy processes.
  • Provide data-driven insights for annual budgeting, lifecycle management, and investment prioritisation.
  • Stay updated with industry technologies and tools in performance analytics and forecasting.
Ideal Profile
  • Strong experience with capacity planning and performance tools such as Turbonomic, BMC TrueSight, VMware vRealize, or cloud-native analytics tools.
  • Knowledge of statistical and ML-based forecasting models, including seasonality and trend-based modelling.
  • Understanding of performance KPIs such as CPU, memory, disk utilisation, IOPS, thread pools, database latency, and throughput.
  • Proficiency with data analysis tools including Excel PowerPivot, Python, R, and SQL.
  • Effective communication skills for presenting technical data to engineering and business stakeholders.
  • Structured, organised, and able to produce formal risk assessments and capacity analysis reports.
