Overview

Reporting to the Manager, Biomedical Engineer, the Biomedical Engineer role is responsible for assisting in the procurement, assessment, installation and commissioning of all medical devices and equipment. In addition, the incumbent is responsible for ensuring equipment maintenance, configuration and calibration activities are carried out in a timely and safe manner in line with the established relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and standards.

Responsibilities
  • Pro-actively participates in collaboration with the Line Manager to meet the division\xe2\x80\x99s strategic and operational goals.
  • Adheres to the division\'s policies, procedures and standards while ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory bodies.
  • Contributes in developing the division\'s policies and procedures and provides recommendations towards improving them wherever
applicable.
  • Contributes towards an innovative culture of continuous improvement for enhancing operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Participates in meetings and maintains professionalism and confidentiality as per the organization\'s standard code of conduct.
  • Completes personal performance evaluation cycle in a timely manner.
Assists in the assessment and procurement of various medical equipment and devices.
  • Inspects and documents medical equipment identification data and labels the equipment with appropriate numerical tags.
  • Enters all patient documentation information into the biomedical asset management software system.
  • Performs preventive maintenance on medical equipment and adheres to specific manufacturer guidelines for testing when
applicable.
  • Employs required tests and measures the equipment\xe2\x80\x99s performance to ensure equipment is functioning within required
parameters.
  • Utilizes various pieces of diagnostic test equipment to ensure proper operational and safety requirements are maintained.
  • Calibrates medical equipment in alignment with the manufacturer\xe2\x80\x99s calibration procedures.
  • Repairs medical equipment by analyzing and troubleshooting equipment malfunctions while utilizing electronic schematics,
diagnostic testing equipment and manufacturer\xe2\x80\x99s technical literature.
  • Identifies faulty circuits, systems, and parts and orders, receive, and replace the faulty components in order to return medical
equipment to full operating potential.
  • Prepares and completes all required documentation including work orders, historic documentation and required correspondence.
  • Enters required informational data into the biomedical asset management software system.
  • Operates and updates medical equipment maintenance library and ensures that a copy of technical literature is included in the library
for all equipment on which maintenance is performed.
  • Inspects all maintenance actions including but not limited to repairs, preventive maintenance, calibrations and modifications.
  • Assists the clinical team in obtaining their proper training and orientation required to well utilize their medical equipment and
devices.

Qualifications

Required:
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Biomedical Engineering
  • Three years of progressive career experience
  • Knowledge of leading practices in
biomedical engineering * Knowledge of biomedical engineering equipment, systems and tools
  • Knowledge of industry\xe2\x80\x99s latest technology trends and applications
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
