Job Description

A BIM Coordinator ensures all team members are following the BIM execution plan. He oversees the creation, management, and coordination of BIM models, ensuring that all disciplines seamlessly integrate their designs.

The key responsibilities of a BIM coordinator include:

1. Coordination and Collaboration

: A BIM Coordinator's primary responsibility is facilitating collaboration among architects, engineers, contractors, and clients involved in the project. They ensure that all the concerned parties are effectively communicating.

2. Model Management

: They oversee the creation, maintenance, and organisation of BIM Models, ensuring that the models created are according to the established standards and protocols. They manage the model throughout the project lifecycle including updates and revisions.

3. Quality Control

: A BIM Coordinator ensures project accuracy and quality. They perform regular quality checks to identify and resolve discrepancies within the models.

4. Clash Detection Resolution

: BIM Coordinators detect clashes using BIM software - identifying conflicts in different buildings such as

structural

, architectural, mechanical and electrical systems. They coordinate with relevant stakeholders to resolve these clashes before construction to minimise rework and potential delays.

5. Standards and Best Practices

: BIM Coordinators establish and enforce standards, protocols, and best practices within the project team. They also work on project scheduling software, cost estimation tools and facility management systems, to enhance collaboration and decision-making processes. This ensures that all team members adhere to the established guidelines to maintain consistency and efficiency in BIM software, tools, and workflows.
