The Role: Associate, Infrastructure Ratings (Dubai) \xe2\x80\x93 Middle East

The Team:
The S&P Global Ratings Middle East Infrastructure team covers credit ratings both for corporate infrastructure entities (such as utilities, airports, ports, renewable developers) and for project financings across diverse sectors (from oil&gas, power, water and transportation). You will be part of the broader EMEA Infrastructure team constituting of about 20 analysts reporting to Karl Nietvelt, headed by Karl Nietvelt as Analytical Manager. We are focused providing the highest quality analysis and excellent client service.

The Impact:
As an Associate, you will have direct analytical responsibilities for a portfolio of infrastructure credits and project financings in the Middle East, notably the Gulf region. You will work closely with a senior infrastructure and project finance analyst, Sofia Bensaid, equally based in Dubai. The role involves providing insightful credit risk analysis through conducting site visits, meetings with Finance and Treasury teams, preparing the analysis, and presenting a rating recommendation to committee.

What\xe2\x80\x99s in it for you:
The role provides fantastic exposure to S&P Global Ratings\xe2\x80\x99 Infrastructure Practice, which employs about 20 analysts in EMEA. We also collaborate closely with our Corporate team in Dubai and international network globally. We value strong and effective teamwork and a thoughtful approach to problem solving. Our analysts have direct interaction with senior management of rated entities and market participants but also primary responsibility for fostering strong relationships with them.

Responsibilities:
Issuers: You will be the first and most important contact with the issuer handling the day-to-day analytical relationship. Together with the senior local analyst, you will lead the meetings with top management. You will have full responsibility to prepare the committee materials, -- incl strategic and business analysis, financial modelling, capital structure analysis -- and present to the S&P rating committee that determines the rating outcome.
Publications: You will publish high quality and forward-looking rating reports, and research updates in case of events. In addition, you are expected to author or co-author high-quality research pieces on the sector and trends affecting your issuers with a focus on the Middle East region.
People: You are a team player promoting a positive team atmosphere as well as analytical and client service excellence.

What We\xe2\x80\x99re Looking For :
Typically 5 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in project finance and/or corporate credit analysis and hold a degree in a relevant finance or business-related field.
Strong written and oral communication skills in English. Speaking Arabic is a plus, but not a pre-requisite.
Ability to read, understand, and analyze audited financial statements, together with a strong foundation in some of the following areas: (1) Credit Analysis; (2) Accounting; (3) Financial forecasting models in the field of project finance.
Potential to become proficient in analyzing debt/instrument documentation and transaction structures, ideally some knowledge of Islamic Finance principles (and sukuk\xe2\x80\x99s structures), and non-recourse financial structures and project documentation.
Some infrastructure-related experience and/or interest in areas such as utility regulations, Public Private Partnerships (PPP), concessions, renewables, LNG, independent power producer structures, \xe2\x80\xa6.
Strong organizational skills and execution mind-set, meeting potentially tight deadlines, with ability to maintain accuracy.

Grade Level : Grade 11 (for internal purposes)
