An Ammonia Plant Technician is responsible for the safe and efficient operation, monitoring, and basic maintenance of ammonia production systems. The role focuses on ensuring continuous plant operations, maintaining equipment reliability, and following all safety and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities
Operate and monitor ammonia plant equipment including compressors, reactors, heat exchangers, pumps, and valves
Control process parameters such as pressure, temperature, and flow rates according to operating procedures
Perform routine inspections of plant systems to identify leaks or equipment issues
Record operational data and report abnormalities to the supervisor
Assist with plant start-ups, shutdowns, and emergency situations
Carry out basic preventive maintenance and support major repairs
Handle ammonia and chemicals safely according to safety guidelines
Maintain housekeeping standards within the plant
Participate in safety drills and training programs
Safety Responsibilities
Follow all safety rules and permit-to-work systems
Use personal protective equipment at all times
Report unsafe conditions or incidents immediately
Respond correctly to ammonia leaks and emergency alarms
Qualifications and Skills
Diploma or technical certification in Chemical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering. Basic
understanding of chemical processes, ability to read diagrams, and good communication skills.
2 to 5 years of experience in ammonia or chemical plant operations is preferred.
Working Conditions
Shift-based work environment with exposure to industrial equipment and chemicals.
Reporting Line
Reports to the Ammonia Plant Supervisor or Operations Manager.
