Ice & Chiller Plant Technician
Job Title: Ice & Chiller Plant Technician
Reports To: Maintenance Manager / Plant Manager
Summary: This technician is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of industrial ice-making machines and chiller systems used to produce cold water for concrete mix in hot weather conditions.
Key Responsibilities:

• Operate and monitor ice-making and chiller plant equipment to ensure a consistent supply of ice or chilled water to the batching plant.
• Perform routine and preventative maintenance on compressors, condensers, evaporators, pumps, and water treatment systems.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical malfunctions in refrigeration systems.
• Repair or replace components such as valves, motors, controllers, and refrigeration lines.
• Recover, evacuate, charge, and leak-test refrigerant systems in accordance with EPA 608 regulations (must be certified).
• Monitor and maintain water chemistry and treatment systems to prevent scale and corrosion.
• Keep accurate records of maintenance, refrigerant usage, and system performance.

Qualifications & Skills:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• EPA Section 608 Certification (Universal level preferred) for handling refrigerants is mandatory.
• Experience maintaining and repairing commercial or industrial refrigeration systems.
• Knowledge of electrical and control systems related to refrigeration.
• Understanding of thermodynamics and the refrigeration cycle.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
