The Role
We are seeking an Adjunct Faculty member in
Interior Design
to deliver high-quality teaching and support student learning on undergraduate programmes. The role includes:
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Teach
research methods and contextual studies
, connecting cultural and historical design contexts to contemporary practice.
Supervise and guide student projects using diverse research methodologies.
Prepare and assess
design and feasibility reports
.
Contribute to the development and enhancement of course materials and assessments, ensuring alignment with academic standards.
Participate in the University's quality assurance processes and adhere to academic policies.
Work collaboratively with colleagues and students, upholding the values of DMU Dubai.
Teaching Commitment
Modules
: Advanced Research for Interior Design (INTD 3110D) and related design research and contextual studies
Teaching Load
: 8 hours per week

Candidate Requirements
Qualifications
Master's degree or PhD in
Design, Architecture, Design History, Cultural Studies
, or a related discipline.
Additional qualifications in
research methods
or
heritage studies
are advantageous.
Attested qualifications with
UAE Ministry of Education equivalency (mandatory requirement)
.
Experience
Minimum
2 years of teaching experience
in research methods and contextual studies within design or architecture programmes.
Experience supervising student projects using varied research methodologies.
Experience preparing and assessing
design and feasibility reports
.
Knowledge & Skills
Strong knowledge of
design cultures locally and globally
, preferably European and UK architectural heritage and design history.
Familiarity with both
qualitative and quantitative research methods
in the design field.
Ability to deliver high-quality, student-centred teaching and assessment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Attributes
Ability to connect cultural and historical design contexts to contemporary practice.
Capacity to mentor students in developing well-researched, critically informed design work.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate research into viable design concepts.
