Accountant (Building Construction Industry)

About the Role
We are a dynamic company in the Building Construction sector seeking a meticulous and experienced Accountant to join our team in Dubai. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day financial operations, ensuring accuracy in our books, and providing critical support to project costing and financial reporting. This role is crucial for maintaining our financial health and supporting our ongoing projects.
Key Responsibilities

• Manage all day-to-day accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger entries, and bank reconciliations.
• Handle project-specific accounting: track costs, monitor budgets, and ensure accurate allocation of expenses to respective construction projects.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports in a timely manner.
• Process payroll, ensuring compliance with UAE labor laws.
• Manage VAT recording, reporting, and filing in accordance with UAE regulations.
• Coordinate with external auditors and provide necessary documentation for audits.
• Monitor cash flow and prepare cash flow forecasts.
• Maintain accurate and organized financial records and documentation.
• Assist in budget preparation and financial planning activities.
• Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors, and clients regarding financial matters.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience within the UAE, with a mandatory focus on the Building Construction Industry.
• Technical Skills:
• Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Tally, Sage, or similar) and MS Excel.
• In-depth knowledge of UAE VAT regulations and general accounting principles.
• Strong understanding of construction cost accounting and job costing.
• Personal Attributes:
• Excellent attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• High level of integrity and confidentiality.
• Effective communication skills in English (Arabic is a plus).
