Accounting Specialist Accountant required for a logistics company - specialized in Sea, Air & Land Freight, Transportation, Terminal, Warehousing & Clearance.

Position Summary: The Accounting Specialist is responsible for handling a broad spectrum of accounting duties such as general bookkeeping, accounts payable and accounts receivable. This position manages outgoing bills and invoices, and manages incoming payments such as preparing and mailing invoices to customers, posting payments to customer accounts, organizing and filing deposit receipts as invoices are paid, reconciling cash receipts and deposits, and preparing reports on delinquent accounts and customer payment profiles. Essential Functions:
  • Prepares and issues customer invoices and account statements.
  • Prepares and issues vendor settlements.
  • Assists in the application of cash and preparation of bank deposits.
  • Matches invoices and purchase orders.
  • Verifies payment status with carriers, agents and vendors.
  • Identifies delinquent accounts and insufficient payments; collects revenue by reminding delinquent accounts, and notifying customers of insufficient payments.
  • Processes invoices to ensure information is current and up-to-date.
  • Reviews financial information and assists in preparing weekly reports.
  • Works with customers in obtaining Proof of Deliveries (POD's).
  • Prepares financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.
  • Maintains account ledgers by posting transactions.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close.
  • Maintains financial security by following internal accounting controls.
  • Maintains financial historical records by filing accounting documents.
  • Maintains customer confidence and protects bank operations by keeping strict customer confidentiality.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
Non-Essential Functions:
  • Maintains a neat, orderly, and organized work area at all times.
  • Performs other related duties, as assigned.
  • May be temporarily rotated to other positions within and outside of home department in order to meet organizational needs.
Qualifications Job Specifications: Education & Experience
  • Associate's Degree in Accounting, Business or a related field with a minimum of 3-years of accounts receivable and accounts payable experience is required; Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience within the Freight Forwarding and Logistic Company is a must.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to handle multiple projects, priorities, and issues simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical, logical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to collaborate and work well with others, in addition to the ability to work independently.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service sills, attentiveness, information retention, and tact and diplomacy in dealing with internal and external customers.
  • Excellent organizational skills; detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Strong computer skills; strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel is necessary.
