Workshop Engineer

Job Description

Duties/Responsibilities:

Oversee the business and operational activities of the workshop, including project management, client relationships, financial management, team management and health & safety.

Lead and manage all ISO efforts in the Workshop, being the main local contact along with responsibility for related Quality activities. Lead, develop and coach a team of full time Workshop Supervisor, formally appraising their performance bi-annually, but providing regular performance feedback as necessary and ensuring good communication channels exist.

To manage the fabrication shop facility and supervise the work shop work force. Material planning.

Drive and co-ordinate operational and associated administrative process improvement using appropriate tools

Liaise with appropriate personnel and ensure standardized work processes are in place.

Ability to prioritize tasks is highly sought and the candidate must be a team player who can plan the resources in an optimum way.

Compliance to put applicable HSE practice in the work shop and is expected to manage and supervise the work in a safe manner.

Ensures that the facility's equipment and machines are maintained properly and working correctly.

Oversees the facility's maintenance program; identifies and analyses equipment or machinery failures and takes corrective actions.

Provides technical training to other team members.

Coordinates work performed by outside contractors, vendors, and engineering consultants.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Provide support in lifting plan preparation.

Organise the materials and equipment for WORK'S.

Trouble shoot, test and propose repair methods without any supervision.

Develop lifting plans and structural calculations.

Plan associated activities for a smaller shutdown works well in advance.

Responsible for training of all workshop employees at all positions of responsibility within the workshop.

Requirements

Education:

Mechanical Engineering

Experience:

Minimum 15 years experience in planning of maintenance activities in the petrochemical/oil and gas or power generation industry.

Job Skills

. English language read, write and speaking to IELTS level 4.

. Able to work with computers, word, excel applications as well as Microsoft windows.

. Aware of different pipe, gaskets and bolting materials (PEFS and piping class).

. Familiar with the different welding techniques and its quality requirements.

. Able to work with Primavera P6 or latest version and Microsoft Project planning.

. software package.

. Experienced with resource loading and scheduling to produce progress status reports.

. Able to plan associated activities for all Work Orders/requests well in advance.

. Good interpersonal and communication skills.

. Demonstrable leadership, planning and problem solving skills.

. The candidate is expected to have good familiarity with mechanical fabrication machines and consumables.

. Familiarity with Quality control measures applied to fabrication activities is necessary.
